Ffs guys  Just take a selection of cars to croft (I'm sure mike can find you a quiet day), play nicely and see what lap times you can all get. You can then wave your willies as much as you like without slagging each other off

Joe, I think my Caddy could do a quicker lap than your Vivaro did. Though in saying that, you were running a triple spoiler, so could probably carry more pace through the more committed corners. Sadly my Caddy only has a double spoiler setup, less grip though less drag...it's all to play for!

I know for a fact if I had 100bhp less I would be slower. Even if stig himself was driving. Although I see your caddy and I raise you my baja bug... If you are still winning I will cut a few corners

George, what's to say any of the other cars weren't running right?

Absolutely nothing. But the times weren't getting compared to other cars in class the times were getting compared to the best time they could find a 150bhp Elise etc did out of hundreds of cars that have raced. We know we were off the pace even if the car was perfect. I was just putting it out there that the times that were getting quoted weren't a true sign of the pace of the driver car package. Same story for Oulton. On the day Darron managed a 1:57 I think but he does 1:54's round there on a regular trackday. No excuses for that one as the car was brill.

OP, sorry I'm not trailing through 9 pages of willy waving bs from the same few as always.

If you are/have got your vx is it going to be a dedicated track slag or willy ou be bringing it to a few meets? Always good to meet new owners.

If you are going sc then tap into the knowledge of the local guys, will save you a pretty penny. They are called plastic skips for nowt - you just dump money into them!

Well, this thread has gone the predictable way, maybe we should collectively look at what's been said and try and understand why?   sitting here, seems to be basically because as soon as a laptime is posted, people seem to relate it to themselves and then go on the defencive as they see it as some kind of personal attack on their manhood.   actually, if you go to the root of this, this is the post that kicked it all off:

both me and George drove past you more times than I have dodged the salad bar!!!!!!

Now, where this came from I have no idea, up until this point, the tread had made no mention of Darron or George, but for some inexplicable reason, Darron decided to jump in... this is the post he was quoting:

My point is that you don't need that much of a VX to win club class. Realistically, a well setup VX with ~200+ hp should cut it...

ie, me suggesting that club class is a pretty easy target for a decent well setup VX with ~200Hp

And with the data we have all seen, I don't think that's unrealistic or saying anything that's out of line, it's certainly not a dig or attack on anybody else.

in summary, it would be helpful if some members could keep their dented ego's under control don't you think?

I thought the national was a prooving ground? showing how epic people were in cars with more than twice the power of the majority? Only reason I was overtaken at croft was because I was down on 150bhp. ;)

What is clear is that the Donkey did not have the season it deserved due to mechanical gremlins. Dazza should have easily matched Club RWD FI times as the car when on song and driver are both capable. Dazza can outdrive me and I know it.

Now, back on topic. Again!

FFS.

It is not about who is best. The OP wants to enter TA and between us we have some pretty good experience which he wants to tap into.

He is looking to enter the class Jimmy, them me, then Dazza entered so we should be able to offer him some pretty good advice and support without resorting to willy waving.

In the end, it isn't about lap times regardless of the continued reminder of who is the greatest of them all. It is about beating the others in your class. You can do a 1:55 round Croft if you like as long as your oppos do a 1:56 you are quick enough. Worth remembering as there is no point in going faster than you have to.

Another point worth remembering is the strike rule. Three strikes in TA and you are bumped up a class (unless you are already in Pro) which means you have to play a pretty fine balance of fast enough but not too fast.

Final point to make is "to finish first, first you must finish. Championships are not built on or won by a single result.
