Reading this thread makes me glad i went for my Zero's.

More than anything lets all just hope no one gets hurt through a failed damper if it is a reasonable common failure.

I've always wondered (mostly with rear toe links in mind) what happens if you're driving on the road spiritedly and something on the car fails but is just put down to a result of the accident? So to a certain degree it wasn't your fault but you get done for it?!

To be fair... I spent about £2.5k having the whole suspension re-built last year and just ran out of money; twas always the intention to change the remainder this year I hit a 'big' hole three weeks ago which didn't seem to cause any issues....parked up and three weeks later it seems fcuked when cold I wont be driving it any time soon

It might be worth collating if they are front or rear, breakage point and a few other details to see if it is an isolable problem.

Is it 'just' isolated to the GGP2's?

Both the photos i've seen have the threaded section at the bottom... I think on the GGP's the threaded section was at the top?

I have a set of Gaz GHA and for what ever reason they rattle. Swapped with some bilstiens, rattle gone. had the GHA refurbished under warranty, refit and rattle back. Sounds like a bag of spanners on some roads. They are only a year old, Won't be buying Gaz again :/

Had same problem fitted set of GGP dorve to MOT one failed on way back 28 miles, but again sent back to gaz on the wednesday recieved back New Black one on the following monday have done about 500 hard miles since but not track with no further problems. Although i enclosed a descriptive letter with the old shock i had no reply on the phone the guy said the crashing noise was down to cavitation ???

What happens if one fails & causes an accident !! with the known failure mode are they liable for a recall??

http://www.csishocks...-is-cavitation/

in short, it would seem its due to running the damper with the damping set too stiff, and possubly incorrect fluid/base valving extremes.

When I was shopping for a replacement for my leaky billies I searched this forum from top to bottom for useful threads. GGP2's were cheap but had horrendous press on this website. The shock absorber forms such a vital part of the car, there was absolutely no way I'd put something that had such a poor reputation on my car. I paid few hundred pounds more for zeros.

I thought shockers were graded on quality with their number so rank like this...

Zero's

GGP 2

Nitron 40's

Nitron 46's

Always liked the performance of the Gaz golds, but I've changed more than one adjuster ring as they have snapped!
