Which exhaust should I consider for my NA so that it sounds a bit less like an Astra, but is quiet enough for me to get onto quiet track days? From using the search, the Miltek one seems to be the one to go for, but I would want a stainless one which seems to rule that out.

 

Would I be best to get one made by Longlife or are there other options these days? I'm not sure it matters but I've already got a Carbon fibre ITG Induction kit which makes a fair bit of noise, but only when you put your foot down.

 

I don't want anything that will constantly drone, but something that gives a nicer noise than the standard exhaust. I'm not looking for any power gains (but don't want to lose any!)

Headers through the trunk boot and out the side.  Stealth mode.

Shouldn't be hard to do, but it would be weird, because they would have to come out over the boot.  Would be too far back imho.

Would also be unbelievably loud, unless you sacrifice the boot and fit a box in there.

Getting both done is a lot of money for just stainless material, if you´re not chasing any tuning. But it´s your wallet.

You can get it done in fazes. If the backbox is prio 1, then just get that one. A oem downpipe and cat section is a 400 cells one. A miltek one is 200 cells and no precat. The sound on an NA will slightly improve, especially when you put your foot down, and remain relatively normal sound when cruising.

 

If you ever decide to SC stage II in the future, you will not have to worry about exhaust restriction with this setup. (cat and backbox done)

I did the OEM to full system in one go, so don't know what just the backbox sounds like. Sorry.

Drove an SC with the full Miltek - sounds like take off time at Cape Canaveral at full throttle....

Went in a Larini one - too loud for me. Nice but loud.

IMHO (and i have taken a LOT of flak for this ...)

 

Inline fours almost never truly sound nice ... although there are some notable exceptions ... the astra VX certainly isn't one of them.

Making it louder isn't making it better ... it's just ... more of it.

 

A unique sound will almost always come from the shape of your manifold and the length of the silencers.
