Making it louder isn't making it better ... it's just ... more of it.

No argument from me. thumbsup And fake Scoobie's sound worse than most. :P

Consider my feelings (DEEPLY) hurt!

Hope you're happy now.

I wish there was a similar valve system for the NA/SC exhaust. I'm sure Fezzzaasssuuusss was considering it?

Would really mess with an SC setup.  It would cough and wheeze at low revs with the valve closed.

I have to say ... the welding on that bypass is very nice.

Took a lot of effort, that!

I ran a larini and maxogen on my NA for the last 2 years and had no track issues, and to be honest I didn't eve find it that loud. I now have it on the sc and it's no louder really, there is more noise but it's all from the charger and pipercross. Not tried a track yet mind.....

Larini is too loud for me.

I'm thinking that the Milltek full system plus 2.4 manifold may be the way to go. Thoughts?

Had a 2.4 manifold on mine before SCing it.

I didn't like it.  Felt very flat in the low- and midrange, and didn't feel much faster when it finally got going.  I think a lot of it is psychological, because you get a little kick in the back when it does start going.  Might make more power, but it certainly won't be faster on the road, because you spend a lot of time waiting for it to build any power.  Stock is faster on the road imho, because it has more torque everywhere.

Guess it would work well if you used it mostly on track, but not for every day use.  Part of the fun of these cars is that everything is instant, including throttle response.  The 2.4 manifold kind of ruined the throttle response.

Ah, ok cheers - that'll save me some money then. Just the Miltek then.

Is it worth just getting the backbox or is the full system worth having to remove the pre-cat? And if I got the full system would I need a remap as well?

Chuck the pre-cat and do the backbox.  No use in doing the full system if you're not going to mod it further.

If you're going to mod it further, then a full system may be warranted later on.

Think you'll have to get a turbo backbox anyway, if you go for the Milltek (which is probably a better idea anyway if any future tuning is a possibility). Think IanRM said they'd stopped making systems for the Z22SE six months back.

thumbsup

Do it!

Removing the pre-cat made more difference to the power delivery and character of the car than any other mod for me by the way, next to that would be a good intake system.

Try it with the stock backbox after removing the pre-cat first and see if the noise isn't enough for you then.  It becomes a bit louder.  Not better ... just louder ... lol

If this is enough for you, then even more money saved  B)

Fair play, i do occasionally get sick of mine being loud (when im just pottering about) but then open it up and fall in love with it all over again. considering changing to get on track though.

I have to disagree with p13 regarding the 2.4 manifold. Yes if you stick it on a totally std engine it won't make much difference and you loose low end torque. But combined with a full exhaust and a CS remap it will feel much quicker. If planning to SC it is not worth the cost though.
