Went for a pootle about today and ended up a few feet from the road in a hedge:

I'm fine, and the car seems to be a lot better than it could have been. The only damage I can see is to the front Clam, under the drivers side sill, to the wheels+Tyres and to the crashbox surround(?)

Just trying to weigh up my options for the front clam, was wondering if I could get a lower half clam to replace mine, and then repair the damage to the upper half? And if not what would my best bet be? I see Lotus hardtops do a Front clam for the VX220 for £899. And what I would need to do about the crashbox surround(?) or where I could get one from? Thanks in advance

Fix the rad surround with fibreglass it is a p*ss easy fix, plenty of broken cheap front clams to buy the lower half and fix, I reckon about £450 damage without the headlight, hopefully the light is ok. Don't feel down these cars are easy to fix as long as there is no chassis damage.

Thanks, that doesn't sound bad at all. Headlight is miraculously fine, found it in the hedge about 4 inches in front of the car, will just need the cables re attaching

Glad you're ok, what happened exactly?

The car doesn't look too bad but i probably wouldn't bother repairing that clam. I'd buy one from lotus hard tops and do the job properly. Joining clams is never ideal and yours looks like it will be significantly weakened. The radiator surround can be repaired but the extent of the damage will become much clearer once you've removed the clam. Have a good look at the crash box for any damage and the chassis around the wishbones etc. looks to be only cosmetic so should be an easy fix!

Good to hear your okay, it's just a car and is fixable. As per Andy's comment, how did it happen? Driver error, part failure etc?

Don't fully agree here..

Clam is fully repairable by a good fiberglass firm.

Just a new lower half, the rad surround, as per one of the above posts..patch it.

Lucky with the light

You can do that kind of damage going off track

Radiator surround can be easily fixed, especially as it doesn't look like you've lost any parts from it.

Front clam could be repaired with a lower section and then any damage to the upper section, however I'd think it wouldn't be that far off a new front clam from Jonny.

Glad you are ok and car is relatively undamaged. just make sure you take front clam off and inspect the crashbox and the chassis It will be worth looking at possibly going through insurance as I would expect it to cost ~£1.5-£2k with a new clam.

Looks like crash box may have just taken a glance. Rad surrounds can be repaired no problem. You can get a lower section but it will cost you more in prep and you'll be replacing it in 6 months as per Andy's post above. You'll be back on the road for £1300 if you saved the headlight.

What I went into was mostly soft, from what I can see the chassis and crash box are undamaged. I was going round a right hand bend when I hit a patch of water, the back end stepped out and I corrected left. The car gripped and it sent me into the kerb on the left, both my wheels hit the kerb and this bounced me to the right of the road, where I hit the kerb and went over it, car carried on 4 or 5 feet before I was stopped by a hedge. Can anyone recommend a good fibreglass repair shop? I'm in the mansfield area. Going to take wheels off now and see if tyres reinflate
