Hi does anyone keep a track of compatible parts for the VX Interested as I am now in the territory of needing some new bits and pieces for the car, I thought that the attraction of owning one of these would be that the majority of parts would have been shared across the Vauxhall/GM range and would therefore be easily available from internet or breakers At the moment I think I need a new throttle sensor Part A116J0003L the only similar part I can find referenced is a throttle sensor for a. Lotus Elise S2 both of which are quite scarce and about £ 150 to replace Is this not the case and I am struggling with a grand delusion thank you

Anything with A116 part number is a lotus part, designated for Type 116 - Skipton (aka VX220 2.2). Vauxhall part numbers are normally something like 909343987 (made up number)

Also, just because it has a GM part number, it doesn't mean it's shared across the GM range.

For example, the above lotus part number you mentioned, A116J0003L also has a GM part number 9197418. This is a lotus part though, not a GM part. There are other parts that are exclusive to our cars that don't have a lotus part number (e.g. the front V).

It's a bit of a minefield, but it becomes clear once you know the car better and understand what's shared between Lotus <-> VX and between VX <-> GM.

As a general rule:

- Only the engine components are shared across the GM range.

- The Lotus Europa is the closest match to our cars (however some parts on the VX are shared with the Elise and not the Europa...)

- Never buy you parts from Vauxhall. If it's a Lotus shared part; buy from Oakmere Lotus. If it's a VX part, try to find it second hand or ask on here if there's an alternative.

Hope that makes sense
