Last race of the year for my "VX in drag" on Saturday. It was all going so well... Pole on a 2:02.4, fastest lap, pulling away from the field until 50 mins in and the fancy Lipo battery sh*t itself :-(
Some footage of the opening laps here

I raced at Snett a couple of weeks ago and had a similar experience except mine was driver failure!!! Started 3rd, got into first by the first corner, led for 15 mins putting 1 to 2 seconds a lap on the others then for some reason I totally lost concentration and just went to pieces, pitted for the driver change 5 minutes early in 5th. I still dont really know what happened, it was just like I couldnt focus.

Have you led races before? Its actually REALLY hard, even if you have pace you have to maintain the concentration, avoid cracking under pressure and think about what's in front and not behind. When you are chasing its really easy to focus on the car immediately in front, not the same when you are out front on you own.

Without blowing my own trumpet, yes I have led races quite a few times. I know what you mean, I've said to my other driver I'd rather chase someone round in second place and make a move towards the end. I always start and I am good at the starts and if we qualify in the top 5 which we usually do I will, most times, lead within a lap however I have never kept that lead all the way through. Whenever I've won a race its been by taking places in the final laps. You're right of course, the key is not to worry whats behind, I was guilty of this at Snett, constantly looking in the mirror when I knew I had a substantial lead with the other cars out of sight on most parts of the circuit and because of this concentration of what was behind I got scrappy, missed apexes, wheels off on the exits. It wont happen again.

Great footage!
Have you got a build thread for your car, I'd love to know more about what you've done to the chassis!

I did a build diary when I very first built the car but much has changed since and I've not caught up!

Apex lights... this was a race into the night. Seeing straight ahead isn't important, seeing through the corner and the apex's is, hence the funny looking lights.
