Ah I remember now. I think it had been given some TLC before Robin even owned it. Nothing wrong with that. 75% of the cars I get have some degree of TLC before they are ready for sale. Got to find something for me to do!

Jon can you give the VXR seller some advice on how to take photos of the car? The majority don't have all of the car in the shot.

Just out of interest, how much would you expect to spend on TLC and do you get a professional detailer in?

Thats a peice of string question really. A nose repsray is about as far as I'd go its rare you can get enough of a margin to do much else.

Dont use detailers. I have a lot of my own kit but trying to keep a car clean thats been detailed would be a nightmare!

I think at £20k that would be a good buy and good investment.

Sold my VXR for 21500 in 08/09 and if you look at S2 Exige prices now, then the VX should be around the £20K mark. But its not a Lotus of course :D

Every one is commenting on prices. I believe the price's are probably rising? Its being driven by Dealers and the small number of decent cars for sale. If you look closely some cars have been for sale for a long time!

People also have woken up to the fact that The VX is a cracking car.{Probably stating the obvious}.

Having been to the NEC on Friday and witnessed a Ferrari  Dino at £260,000 Yes & one at £325,000 The first one was not finished top notch either? Makes the VX look cheap if you compare performance!

I think the VXR is over priced slightly as its a acquired  taste. Maybe some one will buy it and speculate locking it away for the future?

Needs using really. Any way hope the guy gets a bite on his VXR.

Prices have risen a lot. Its the impossibility of finding a nice VX these days thats the problem. You can find an OK one no problem still pretty cheap but if you want really nice one it takes some doing. It is expensive the VXR but only a tiny bit IMO.

I dont think theres much trickledown from a Ferrari to the VX the Ferrari market is a mixture of speculation and eastern money coming into it. Maybe if we can punt a couple of tidy VX220s around Shanghai we could get demand up a bit ;)

What reason would anyone talk the price down on the VX market, have these people been owners & no longer own a VX? I paid what I considered OTT from a dealer about 16mths ago! I looked & estimated how much it would have cost me to do a crash repairable, the cheapest available in one piece was 5k not moving, possibly clutch issue? All smashed up VX's was all going for 4-4.5k on Copart & blue cycle? If it was a run of the mill car I'd have walked away, but it isn't! It ain't no Lotus for sure but look at a decent pre BMW Mini, they're fetching around 10k & I wouldn't have one given! I bet that forum ain't talking those down? And I'll bet there's Mini lovers on here that wouldn't flinch at paying daft money for a good Mini? It's natural for owners to want as much as possible if they're generally upgrading to off-set that cost?

Relatively speaking the VXR has not gone up that much in value considering its rarity and perceived desirability. If you look at the used market in general for desirable older sports cars, values have soared over the last couple of years. Good example of this is the 911, an air cooled one of any year has increased in value by over £10k for even the base models.

Yeah 2 years before I owned it.  Since then all the little niggles had been ironed out and it had just had the GB refurbed.  If someone can find VXR #20 it is a minter, probably had the best bodywork out of any VX I have seen.  Couple of little niggles with the trim inside, but that's understandable for a 10+ year old car.

In fact I met both previous owners at a meet at the Vauxhall HQ while I still owned it.  Not a peep from the new owner since he's had it on here though.  Like people are saying people love to scare monger and talk the prices down for any car that comes across this site, which is a real shame.

I don't feel like my current VX is worth any less than anyone else's but I couldn't even put it up for sale without someone saying "careful someone reversed into it in a car park and although it was light clam damage and has been repaired as new it should be at least a grand cheaper"

Does my nut

 Mine had a new rear clam after that happened to mine before my ownership, since then the front clam has been repaired twice and needs repairing on the otherside after I hit a rabbit/hare last year, but as you say "careful that been repaired".  Looking at it you wouldn't notice from the front, only once the calm was off you would!

No damage... zero .... none  % Lucky = happy

-2k would still make it £31,500
