I’m now ready to start looking for my VX220 

 

Thanks to all of you folks who have supported me so far on my forage into VX220’dom, I really appreciate the guidance, knowledge sharing, passenger seat sharing and time you’ve giving me to make sure I’m tooled up to make the right call on my VX220.

 

The car will be a weekend and trackday car to sit alongside my diesel Volvo commuter hack. I’m predominantly focusing on N/A’s as (over and above the budgetary constraints) I prefer the power delivery of an N/A car to a turbo… although I’ve not driven/been driven in a VXT yet so reserve the right to revoke the previous statement and up my budget! (let’s not get hooked on N/A vs Turbo subject on this thread, there’s plenty of those threads here already!)

 

Budget:

Ideally sub £8,000, I’m ideally hoping to pay a little less so I have some money to spare for a hardtop and/or some after-market wheels (TD 1.2’s/Compomotives/ATS DTC’s) but, on the flip-side there is room to go a little higher for the right car.

 

Must Haves:

2 seats, an engine, bla bla bla… basically be a VX220. Based on conversations with you folks on here and from what I’ve read in my hours upon hours of lurking I’m happy if it’s a Cat C/D, had a heap of owners and is relatively leggy. As long as it’s been well maintained and looked after I’m a potential buyer.

 

Wish List:

• Minor modifications (to the exhaust/ECU/… maybe even suspension)
• Hartop (OEM or aftermarket)
• Non-standard wheels (esp. interested in a set of ATS DTC’s)
• Moonland or Le Mans/British Racing green or black

hi been thinking of selling my vx 2.2na in yellow for a little time now but don't like to advertise it .had it for nearly 7 years 52000 miles lovely condition with a hard top. I  was looking for close to 8k if you want more info you can pm i your tel No  and i can give you a ring

Kieran, you got a good few VX owners in this area, a couple have moved on to the Lotus. But all willing to share? One of the guys can source VX's? You just have to ask!

Exciting times indeed!!

 

There's three cars I'm interested in; the issue being there in 3 corners of the country; from Wales to Kent... always the way.

 

Will keep this thread alive with updates (for those few who are interested) and I welcome any other PM's from those of you who are thinking of selling or just want to show your car off to me - I'm happy with either!.

I'm off to Lymm, Cheshire this weekend to take a look at this motor (Lightening Yellow No. 59):

Does anyone happen to know anything about this motor, I believe the guy who owned it before the chap who owns it now had it for 9 years?

 

Then off to Maidenhead the following weekend to take a look at d4nnyk's Europa Blue N/A that he's thinking of parting with... I'm going to try and convince him.

 

Also trying to sort a trip to Pontypridd to see another N/A!

 

If any of you are local to these cars and fancy a visit to talk VX220 and help my pretty basic knowledge of everything VX220 I;'d be grateful and would return the favour in [enter favourite tipple here] + travel expenses!

Plunge taken - I'm now the proud owner of Lightening Yellow 59!

 

This was Jase_MK's car 3 owners ago, since then moving between 3 sets of hands, first of all anorak (Mark) who it seems owned it for a matter of months before selling onto a chap who really took care of this car (which I'm sure Jase will be pleased to hear).

 

Just drove it back from Lymm in Cheshire and had a blast. Cannot wait to get out again for a hoon when we next get some dry roads in this part of the world!
