I'll be going over on the Sunday morning, unless Jo comes and wants to get a couple of days elsewhere first and will be taking the southern route anyway, so Ghent and Bruges are out whatever.

I've noticed Eurotunnel is saying sold out on the Sunday £30 crossing, (back Monday) option. Got to assume its the busy August holiday they have limited the tickets.

Both are lovely. I prefer Ghent though, it's a little easier to deal with, car wise.
The last time at Spa, on the way back we booked into the Hotel Prinsenhof, Ontvangersstratt 9, 8000 Bruges.
Really lovely, small hotel....center of Burges with car parking! However, the car parking was so compact that if anybody wanted to get out, half of the cars in the small courtyard car park had to move to let you out.

Good job I'm not trailering then will still save 5 mins which in a morning for me is worth an hour
However, waiting for the two truck at the end of the day, negates the advantage

Still some availability in Stavelot but disappearing fast.
I would book asap. Free cancellation on booking.com or hotels.com if you change your mind.
