Have you done a search on refurbishing Sachs? Not as easy as it seems IIRC, especially if you're looking to sell them.

Enjoy Luxembourg Kieran, you back to the previous company then? Glad to see you taking the VX :)

Jason: Yes mate, moving back, they coaxed me! Should be interesting living in Lux with one of these, I think I'll be forced to garage it through the winter rather than have to put winter tyres on.

rob999: Yes, pretty pricey (£600 I believe) as they have to be sent back to Sachs in Germany but they come back like new so would be good for someone who's interesting in doing that and getting themselves a cheap(ish) set of Sachs suspension... still need to put them up for sale!!

So it's been a busy weekend this weekend, got the car back during the week and made good use of it over the weekend. Me and the little lad... my 20 month old son for anyone that thought I was referring to something else ...popped to Cadwell Park on Saturday in the VX to watch some of the Renault Sport guys fly around. Literally in once case, I was trying to get a picture of my son on the swings with my camera phone which has a terrible delay between me pressing the shoot button and a picture actually being taken. He was smiling toward me until we heard a screech of tyres next to us, a Clio came into the Hall Bends a little too eagerly and I managed to capture this shot:

The Clio driver had a proper moment and did very well not to over-correct himself and hit the barriers.

It was quite cold thought and the little lad seemed to prefer pretending to drive my car than watching fun on track.

Today was a different story, me and mate headed of to Blyton Park to track the VX following the mountain of work that's been done to it. It was cold and dry so once the tyres were up to temperature there was a nice amount of grip. I had planned on playing with my new Quantum's settings to stiffen the suspension but, as you'll see from these shots I didn't in the end. I was too busy learning about the car, enjoying myself and trying to stay out of trouble... except for a pretty epic spin coming out of Jochen into The Ump, I got a bit excited having passed an M3 and left my braking a little late. My best time was a shade over 1:20 which is 6 seconds slower than Zoobeef managed in the last Blyton Park thread:

Clearly more work to do, but it was an awesome day and would definitely recommend Blyton as a place to do your first track day in the North as it's a pretty tricky track but smooth, flat and has lots of run off :)

Anyway, some self-indulgent pictures from the day:

Yeah, not too much lean :) I didn't play with the settings, kinda wish I had now though as I'm convinced I could have gone quicker through some of the faster corners. Blyton is a fantastic track for a first track day in a new car though, it's got a great mix of pretty technical corners and there's a lot of run off... which I explored going backward at one point :)

The photographer is ace, his company is Xtreme Sports Photography and he specialises in track days... pretty cool job in my book! He managed to get some really cool pictures of my car, wife has not agreed to let me print one and hang it in the house (boo).
