Interesting using the 1.8 rather than the 2.0?
Indeed, the 1.8 20vt is the heaviest option , cast iron.
These aren't new either, around ~1997-2001 , actually no a late Audi TT donor car would be 2004 ish

I think thats a scrap engine for working out the mounting etc.

all mounts done today,nice mk5 gearbox with a quafe lsd and gearset all in place along with a gt3071 now on with the pipework

thumbsupyou have answered your own question there Duncan!! a couple of times
the firm that's doing the work have a good history of building cars using this motor,and as you say tuning parts are abundant,they are using this as a bit of a test bed as they are interested in the possibility of a drive in drive out conversion for the vx and other elise based stuff.
