... I'm trying to find out more about the drive around Brussels on a Saturday. Really need to cover 400 miles that day and struggling to find a reasonable overnight stop off point en-route

You could go via Eindhoven and Liège to avoid Brussels.

For en route stopover, have a look at Langres in Champagne-Ardennes on Booking.com. I found:
Motel San Michel

£43 for a double room. 709km, 443 miles, 6h 53m (Google maps) from Zandvoort via Liège.

It looks like they are used to UK registered sports cars - pictures show Ferraris, a Lambo, TVRs...

Yes, Liege , that was the route I looked at , fill up petrol just over the border in Lux, then straight down to Nancy area.

But I think I will be heading out a few days earlier and missing Zandvoort and going South through Dolomites instead, Grossgluckner etc, then Verona and  returning along the Ligurian coast to Orange.

Ferry booked. £47 including the poxy booking fee, courtesy of some Clubcard vouchers. :D

Be warned, if anybody else fancies using Clubcard vouchers, it's the Old Skool setup where Tesco need to send you physical vouchers instead of emailing them instantly like they do for Eurotunnel.

Whilst I really want to do Zandy again I'm seriously thinking that 700+ miles over 2 days to get to the Frolic with the wife in the car is not a good idea. In fact, not even sure it's a good idea without the wife in the car😄😄😄 Looks as though I'll have to miss this one, although I gather that Paul G is working on a second Zandy date earlier in the year😉

700 miles is a long old haul Paul, you don't want to knacker you're self for the rest of the trip.

I am usually and hopefully wont regret this. Certainly won't miss the miserable drive down to Folkestone though. Jo isn't coming so that means both options are open and I've got Flexi tickets in both directions if I bottle out and opt for the Chunnel.

Sure depends on the weather. If it's good, Zandvoort and the whole area around it is very nice. And you can always go to Haarlem and/or Amsterdam if the weather doesn't cooperate. Haarlem is about 10 minutes away and a nice small town. You probably heard about Amsterdam  Biking is very nice in the Zandvoort area. With decent weather, rent some bikes and go into one of the nature areas. Surfing (wave-, kite-, wind-) is also very big. A simple kite lesson on the beach is fun and shows you how powerful these things can be. I used to live in the area and still think it's one of the best in Holland.
