Anyone know of a good place to get snell approved helmets?

looking for good deals.  Not necessarily cheap helmets, but just good prices.

I bought a Koden snell approved carbon helmet recently, and the quality seems good. Very light and comfy and the cf lay up looks great (if a little power ranger). I couldn't get over some of the prices but found it worth checking out your local motorbike shops. I thought they would only stock bike lids but they had quite a choice of car stuff too. Just don't buy a bike helmet, no matter what safety rating it has it's going to have been tested for different damage to snell like scraping along the ground vs point impacts.

Ive got one of these;

http://www.v2sport.c...n-vehicles.html

It was quite good value and most importantly fit well.

Demon Tweeks is a good place to try a few on, but not too close to you really......

Id thoroughly recommend trying a few different helmets/brands on, all seemed to fit slightly differently to me and some felt much more comfortable than others.

Yeah it seems like there is a wide variety in quality between some of the helmets and although some of them may pass the standards, it’s only because they have built up strength in the areas that they knew were getting tested and scrimped on the rest of the helmet.

There doesn’t seem to be many places around me that I can go and try on helmets.  When I got my current helmet which was just a motorbike helment I was happy to order online because it wasn’t that expensive, but I kinda want to try a few on when I am spending decent money.

That's the first time I’ve seen an adult version of that helmet.  A lot of places seem to sell the kids version.   thumbsup

I'm looking for one with HANS now. Not as bad as they used to be but not cheap at all.

Not worth scrimping on a motorsport helmet. The Bell RS3 is a good one and Hans compatable.

How many of you guys use hans in track days? I got a hans helmet thinking there's no such thing as OTT when it comes to safety and also have a neck collar which will be for passengers when I get the brace. Also I would get a balaclava, not for just the fireproofing but if helps keep the helmet lining clean!!!

Haha I would take the p*ss out of someone wearing a romper suit too. Regular clothes for me but a HANS device ain't a laughing matter when dislocating your neck from your ass! I'll be the butt of the jokes I don't mind.

My hands sweat like a 70's dj in a kids home when I'm driving on track

I'd go for the gloves

The boots just look like trainers any way and if you wanted to look cool Prada make some nice driving style boots

Hanns device im not sure about really

What I really want is a nice helmet with coms in so I can actually hear my instructor !!!!!

Need a suit and gloves due to the regs. I wouldn't wear them if I didn't need to.

At least you guys have airbags and crumple zones so you have something that might save your neck in a full frontal crash. I have nether so that is the main reason I'm getting HANS.

@ Pete-R your harness bar holes will probably need relocating if you want to use a HANS device as strap placement is key. MSA regs for my car only allows one company in the UK to site the posts too, thankfully mine have already been done.

ETA - I also have gloves but that is more down to the no roof, windscreen or doors thing making my hands very cold.

I have a Hans and have worn it for racing but not track days... go figure. I do think I would feel a bit of a bell end wearing it for a track day.
