Notice same charge cooler header tank, cable ties for wiring loom attached to the fuel rail in the same place, same colour intake piping. Same shiny bolt on EGR blank

Oh and finally it's now missing an ariel, which isn't surprising considering the roll bar cover was ripped off.

Like it's been stated, if everything's out on the table for the prospective buyer, then the buyer has the choice? If it's being covered up by "What do you expect form a car of this age" or something similar, then buyers need to be made aware imho. A lot of you guys have had a hell of a lot of these toys & been involved a long time. I'd still take your advice, 17 months in as a VX owner. Research, research!

Thank you for the question, yes that is the correct car, it was probably the easiest car to repair, as it  came to me with no body panels. The only chassis damage was a wishbone pickup point, and as we have repaired many of these for club members, this was also a simple job for us.  The windscreen was undamaged, as was the interior, and crashbox,  just very dirty. The car has had new doors, front and rear clams, top bar and roof,  replaced radiators  with pro alloy rad, and new rad for super charger. The car looks and drives superbly well. regards

to be fair most of the damage was just bolt on parts, but the chassis damage repair is quite worrying

In fairness yes this is one of things that is an instant insurance write off but there are methods of doing it. Theres a guy on seloc works for Aston or one of the big manufacturers that use aluminium in the construction of the cars thy use a sleeving method to fix bent extrusions.

Welding is controversial because of the effect on the adhesive. I would think putting additional rivets in should sort that. Thats how Hydro made the Renault Spyder chassis after all.

Its all a bit dodgy though. Having a factory repair done with the car stripped down is different to some guy turning up with a welder. Given an eyes wide open choice you'd just move onto a car that was more straight forward. An odd knock here and there is nothing. I would say most of our cars have had some kind of paint repair etc at some point. I know my Elise has but theres a limit!

If that is all true, and the weld/repair on the chassis is legit and done correctly and the crash box really isn't damaged, then that is a friggin bargain.

All new panels means immaculate paint work, I would be slightly wary that the aluminium chassis is ok however and would want to get it on a rig to check it hasn't bent.  Other things I would want to see before parting with my cash are the roll bar pick up points on the chassis, the rear subframe, and I'm sure there are some other bits which would have been subjected to extreme forces in that accident.

Crash box was certainly damaged, as was the rear subframe. I believe there is a lot of hidden damage on that car.

I'm the nugget that crashed it in January :( Rear subframe took full brunt of a tree at 40-60mph ish, I said at the time it should be Cat B but assessor didn't even view it in the flesh and declared it Cat C. The one wheel bent was the drivers side rear. It's gone on eBay tonight for 8k tonight, I paid 9.5k as a tidy none cat car a year ago. Interior has changed, strangely even the alloy indicator stalks have been removed. Still gutted I savaged this car :(

http://www.gumtree.c...rged/1026800106 That's the car in its hay day by the looks of things. I'm after returning to vx220 ownership for a track car this time (never tracked mine when I had it). This thread has put me off that car though!
