"I am the Resurrection, and I am the life,

I couldn't ever bring myself to hate you as I'd like"

Kinda sums up the car-that-will-not-die and my feelings toward it.

Didn't want to announce this until I had the insurance payout confirmed, but I can now say that I will definitely be putting Y533 TLE back on the road.

As this is the 3rd time it's been a Cat C the payout does not quite cover the cost of repairs. But it's close enough to make it worthwhile. I would be unable to do this if I didn't know Foxy (not the one on here) who is an excellent and incredibly cheap bodywork guy here in Saltburn-by-the-Sea.

I've thought about all the options including stripping mine for parts and starting again with another car but as some of you know I had just got the car really sorted after the last crash (full suspension refresh, brakes, SC conversion etc) and there would be no guarantee I would not be buying a load more problems. So here goes with the plan.

Damage

Miraculously the car escaped chassis damage. The impact from the Transit van at the rear seems to have been greatly absorbed by the exhaust. As the Land Rover in front of me was so high my car got pushed underneath thus saving the crash box and chassis. The base of the windscreen prevented me from travelling any further under it (yes it could have been horrific if we were travelling any faster). Every panel bar the passenger door sustained damage to a greater or lesser degree. The radiator and surround were also damaged and one of the headlights completely destroyed. All other lights are repairable with new lenses.

Repairs

New lightweight front clam from Jonnyboy

Second hand rear clam

Front lenses from Fezzasus

Rear lenses from GMS

Second hand Pro Alloy rad (to replace standard)

After market rad surround from eBay

Second hand Larini (to replace smashed one)

Lots of repairs to fibreglass on sills and drivers door

Full respray and pro lacquer (same British Gas Blue Colour unless anyone can suggest something new and different)

Loads of other bits and bobs and some I haven't discovered no doubt

Modifications

While it's off the road I plan a few mods / upgrades. But it's all a bit secret for now. Mr Crabash will be assisting - OK leading while I watch and pass him spanners - on a few ideas. I think he's basically treating my car as a test bed for some ideas he's had for a while. Watch this space.

Target

To get my car back on the road, better than ever in time for the spring. I have big plans for the summer including Spa and the French Frolic so want to ensure it's reliable and tested before then. I will be buying a shed to sacrifice to the dreaded A19 hundred mile commute as I cannot go through this again.

Here's to a crash free 2015

Only seen the Janspeed one but that's just for back box and I have another Larini coming. Is there another?

Not sure it's a priority atm as any cash left over will go towards a seat and harness now it's no longer going to be a daily.

As mentioned previously, you can always come with me and come out in the Cat (and be pit crew :) ) if yours isn't ready.

Don't kid yourself I foresee me sitting in a chair and delegating :P

It's not so much a test bed as doing 2 and sharing costs works out cheaper for what I want to do to mine, assuming it works out ok :ninja:
