Right I've got a half day on Wednesday so work begins at 2pm and we don't finish until the sun goes down. Then a full day on Thursday but finishing at 5 as I'm teaching guitar on the evening.
Anyone local (ish) that fancies pitching are in more than welcome

So, work started about 2.30 and we just got back now. Body is broken but spirit is not despite the gutting news I can't make the National at Anglesey due to a backlog of VIC checks at the DVLA (so loads of people have recently written their cars off and now want them back on the road??).
Anyway, Steve and I were in good spirits. The sun was shining, and the end is in sight.
The rear clam is BACK ON
The front clam is HALF ON
The interior looks like a F*CKING SKIP
Back on it tomorrow

An equation gleaned from today's trials and tribulations:
Hammer + blowtorch / 5hrs fitting + much swearing = almost straight bonnet hinge.
So Anglesey was never gonna happen anyway.
Stoopid plastic sh*t heap

Steve has the patience of a saint and a problem solving brain.
I get instantly pissed off as soon as something goes wrong.
I hardly dare breath it, but I think we are almost there...

So while lots of you were in Wales or Scotland having a cracking time we've been back on it today.
Last week we fabricated some fibre glass strips to replace the knackered metal one.
WMI pump and tank mounted and parcel shelf back on.
Slight issue is we can't find the locator bracket thing for the roof from the drivers side. It came loose and we put it somewhere 'safe' ready to bond back on. Pic below. Anyone got one? Long shot I know.
This one is still in place
This one we lost
Also, Bonnet - on! Finally fits properly after lots of twatting around.
More paint touching up both the new blue and black detailing. The exterior is going to look stunning.
Interior tidied up and vacuumed.
Saturday, it may be finished.

Another full 8 hrs on it today. But no more messing around with oily bits - only paint on our hands today
Steve's attention to detail is quite astonishing given it not even his car (I'd have left half the things we've spent weeks on) but it's now starting to pay off.
Hairline crack in one headlight and a badly patched hole in the other now filled and sanded.
Excess filler removed, keyed in plastic and masked off bulbs.
Several coats of plastic etch primer later. I'm not allowed anywhere near a spray can as I'm a feckless wonder so Steve doing all spraying
I never thought I'd say this but my car is being polished. Like properly with 3 stage Poorboys stuff. A first for me and any car I've owned. I was actually allowed to use the polisher in the end, but only cos Steve's arms were knacking
One of several little blemishes we fixed. First we picked out any dirt with a pin, then used a cocktail stick dipped in the paint to fill the tiny holes proud of rest of the paint. Wait to dry then sand back with wet and dry. Then polishing.
Details like this are meaning the car is going to look better than ever. These grills have always looked sh*t. I tried Plastidipping them, then they were (badly) painted. So Steve took them away and brought them back looking like this. Better than new. All the mesh on the car now looks this good. The little details are showing the new colour off brilliantly. It's gonna be a real head turner
All we have to do now is finish the lights, fit the seats and the engine / boot lid, final polish and wheel deep clean and she's ready.
Just need the VIC check to come through now. Two weeks and not even got an appointment yet.

looks amazing
Im not one for details myself, I left loads of stuff when building my car when I thought "I should re-glue that" or "I could make that better"
I know one of my door cards are well... sort of on, every now and then my dash plate falls off, my windscreen needs replacing, my rear clam need replacing, same with the front clam... exhaust is not really aligned properly and my rear clappers I think need a rebuild... all the paint on the car is sh*t and most of the grills are now grey
But when you see a car properly sorted it does looks stunning

I think I was a contender for sheddiest VX the past two years running but it really will be better than ever once we are done. Interior is now looking horrendous though so that'll be next years project.
Never finished though are they?
