Also took most of the front clam bolts out, nice and easy as it's only just gone on.

Went at some corrosion on the sub frame with wire brush / rust remover / wire brush ready for painting.

Next week we will plum in the WMI tank and wire in the pump. We've been debating the best location for these. It's a tall, narrow tank. There is no room for it in the engine bay and I don't want it in the boot for space and weight distribution reasons so we think we have a nice spot for it on the parcel shelf. This will allow us simple access and a short route to the manifold and SC injection points.

Then it's off with the front clam, fix the leaking radiator, install brake cooling from the fog light apertures and generally tidy things up and rustproof as much as possible as we go.

Really hoping it will be ready for Angelsey.

Did you try the tank in the right hand sill area at all? That's where i'm thinking of fitting mine but if the aquamist tank wont fit there i best have a rethink....

It's still on the parcel shelf and fits perfectly if very snugly even with the harness bar installed. Do you mean down the side of the seat? It might fit there if you have narrower after market seats. I have B6s and there is certainly more room down there than with standard. Don't forget though that it's not just the tank - the pump has to be securely mounted nearby as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Think I know where you mean. Although forget right hand try left though, fuel filler provision in bulkhead encroaches in the right hand side, never tried on Neil's as it would make filling difficult, but I have looked at this area for my own. It might fit but suspect the gap gets too narrow at top, unless you go for different tank. This is what I may do, I have other plans for filling.

I've looked at exactly that. Even looked at rotomolding/rotocasting to make a custom shaped container that would go all the way down into the end of the sill. I've got the same skinny tank that Neil has and think it might be possible to get that in the left hand side of the engine bay but will probably need an ecu relocation (again) and a lot will depend on the air filter solution. I also got a remote filler for the tank to situate somewhere easier to fill through. As ever, lack of arsedness is the killer as I really don't want to remove the clam again and until I finally settle on an airbox setup to kill the noise, I'm not sure of what space I'll have. The only thing I'm sure of is that neither the tank nor the pump will be going in the interior. I value the parcel shelf too much and if necessary will get ProAlloy to knock something up to fit across the width of the boot bulkhead without taking up too much space.

I will be using the washer bottle to start with until I get the feel for how much water I will need and time of filling back up Might look at getting a larger tank in same place which will also do Windows and wi Other thing to think about the pump needs to be lower than the tank So was thinking of putting the pump in cabin maybe behind a seat or foot well area

To me the boot seems like the obvious place to put the tank. What am I missing?

How does heat affect the water tank? Less hot water into the manifold would be better than hot water I guess (thinking about the idea above of putting it next ot the engine)?

You could use 2 smaller tanks feeding a T piece to the pump, this might give more freedom for location. And remember any pipe work from the tank to the pump will act as anti surge if you have unbaffled tanks.

The pump can be higher than the tank if you fit a non return valve at the low point.

Don't forget the cap should be vented, so if you plan on using Meth that vent will need routing out of cabin.

The idea that I have eventually is to get a custom baffled alloy tank the same dimension to one of these

They are impact foam that slots into the lotus sills at the rear of the sill. I reckon one will easily hold 5 litres plus. I know it's for the lotus sill but I'm sure you could get something similar made to work.

You can see one of them fitted just below my catch tank

The tank will be getting hard Anodised to stop this. Been doing some reading on this and 50/50 mix isn't a harsh as full on meth and make sure the tank is drained if left for long periods of time.

So, I killed my engine. Nothing to do with trying to extract more power. Just neglected to top the oil up due to not having time to get the boot open and check for a few weeks. Fessing up is hard to do

It needed 3 litres so I'm guessing it was on it's way out anyway. But :ffs:

Hoping ChrisUK at Jon Seal's Sportcars can work a miracle and fit a replacement before Zandvoort...

Yeah totally standard second hand engine which had 26k on it when I bought it from Liz about 3 years ago. I've put about 40k on it in that time including SCing it and track days. I guess i have to treat the engine as a consumable due to the abuse it gets. But keeping the fecker topped up with oils helps! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
