Was a great day and as Mark said we had some real good battles which I really enjoyed. It was my first day in the Caterham and I said from the outset that If I could match the fastest lap I did in the VX last time I was there (1:16.7) by the end of the day I would be happy. On the first session in full wet setup I beat it by 3 tenths
When I changed the setup to full dry my fastest lap was 1:13.49 with an ideal lap of 1:12.89
I've still got a load of learning to do and I honestly think there is a sub 1:10 time possible with this car. Not bad for 140bhp

NIce laps chris!! My precision you tube/wife on the banking timing system is quite as good as a vbox

Yes mine is recorded with Racelogic. I will post it on youtube but the lens had some dirt on it so although you can see everything it's not great quality.

I did a 1.14 with standard 111r bilsteins and just some r888's on TD's. Car also has noisy 2bular backbox but apart from these mods is showroom stock with circa 190bhp, full interior and electric windows, no spoiler etc. I recon a pro driver could get into 1.12 easily....
Only mod I would like to do in the future is some quantums and rear toe links for piece of mind. Really impressive how these cars drive with minimal mods!

Hate to be a killjoy, but be careful regarding timing on a trackday. It invalidates the trackday organisers insurance. I know of an instance where a driver has been told to leave the track after his partner was seen timing him from the banking.
I'm sure that the trackday briefing would have mentioned that no timing of laps was allowed.
However, the use of camera systems which show track times/g force such as vbox etc. seem to be ever more popular with the downside that one cannot claim that you were doing 120 mph on Hanger straight when the camera clearly shows 90 mph on screen!

Every track organiser ive spoken to has been fine with vbox units as long as you don't look at the data during the day. The insurance thing prohibits live timing which is why data loggers are fine.
As I understand it the restriction is there to make sure you don't pull a rash move (like late overtaking) to stop you from losing a tenth. I use the data after the day to assess my performance and get some ideas on what I should do next time I'm there.

Been looking at my data and so far I need to stick to the left hand side for a bit longer in Lancaster, keep hard on throttle until the first marker board approaching the Wiggler, turn in slightly later at Bishops and try to use a bit more of the Apex curb at Twickers. If I can remember all of this the Vbox tells me I will do a 1:12.02 which is nearly 1.5 seconds better than my fastest lap.

This is the point I was hoping that I had put across. Perhaps I did not put it correctly.
Vbox (other dataloggers are available) are a very useful tool in use to give insight into where speed can be gained, and to show a driver where his technique can be improved.
I personally use a RaceKeeper system which will show me a delta time - how much time I am faster/slower on the best lap time, very useful when I am sprinting my Westfield. However I switch this feature off when I am on a track day as that can be construed as live timing, as of course can a lap timer display.
Video dataloguers are reviewed when not on track, so do not contravene regulations.
By the way, I do not publish my times, but I do not track my VX so my times are irrelevant to this thread.
