Good luck man. I paid 6800 for mine back in June and it was pretty tidy with 65k so 6900 definitely seems steep if its as rough as that
Thanks! Always good to know what the market was doing esp in June when people want the convertible fun cars!
I want to pay less than 6k and ideally it would be 5.5k but it will take some negotiating.... Im just glad to know I have a good family tie and a plan of action for respray at an affordable cost....it is just getting the car for the right price and of course ensuring that altough the engine sounded good, the test drive goes well and shows that the 50,000 over the last 10-12 years are in fact low.
Here is the old dog that needs some tlc....
Looks like rubber trim moved?
Door miss aligned?
Does anyone know where you buy this grille from?

ignoring all the cosmetic stuff.. my car permanently looks like a bag of crap but it goes well and under the skin its solid.. its an N/A, so has the timing chain been replaced? what condition is the suspension in? are any of the shocks leaking? Breaks? Steering? Does it need new rubber? what wheels has it got? clams off pics http://www.vx220.org...ect-beef/page-2

This saturday may answer that as Ghand only saw the car running in a stationary position as above. and didnt see paperwork.
But he reported engine wasn't rattling from a total cold start up to warm and he said sounded good- ill check paperwork to learn what it may say.
Suspension, brakes steering couldnt be checked by Ghand due to cars location- Saturday job to check this detail and have a test drive.
Tyres looked good and the wheels are NA wheels that have been turned black by powder coat/spay. Apparently in good condition and good job.

personally i would walk,if i was heading to a garage to see a car having called to say i was coming and they had it in a dark wet corner then that would be that for me,if they can't be arsed and they didn't even wash it?
whats the first thing you do when your selling a car? clean the thing at least!!
na mate put your cash back in your skyrocket...you will get a good one...if your patient..far to many things need done and any decent garage would have done most of them to get the sale, says to me it is too much work /time/ cost for them.
nowt wrong with green vx,s.

Yeah I know that is poor form and it didn't score well at all on Ghands feedback and left me with a sour taste too but I will still see the car this saturday as me my cousin and one of the sprayer mates of his want a road trip in his scooby and having tee'd up the today (they'll get my message tomorrow) and said I'd like to see the car outside in daylight, clean so I can see the paint properly and accessible for a test drive lets see if it moves. If they haven't complied then for me on *my* first visit then its a no-no.
If its mechanically sound and test drives ok, I don't mind niggles and fettling fixing things...I've got a re-spray team and location lined up now at a good price, so if I get my offer for the car accepted and I am walking away with enough knocked off due to its issues, I will take it and spend the time on the car to bring it back up to a better condition.
Aye, I see you have a nice green VX :-)

It is worth going, just to look around one. Make a deal with yourself that you won't buy it there and then, or even put a deposit down. It isn't likely to be going anywhere soon, so go with your cynical head on. As HH said above, get it up on a ramp and check it over completely. It's not as if the car was owned on here and the history is plastered on the .org. This car seems to be an unknown, and as such should be treated with a bit of distrust.
Write everything down that you are unsure about, even take phone pics and then as soon as you get back put it all up on here. The true value can then be worked out from what you come back with.
Good luck, whatever you do.

Indeed. I have some of the pictures Ghand took for me already posted up earlier in the thread courtesy of Ghand and we've already started reducing price already taking into account faults/niggles. There isn't a lot more I can take pictures off that aren't already covered by Ghand
Indeed going in with a distrust and suspicious attitude and I am already inclined to walk away unless I got the car for an absolute steal if it passes muster of course.
I will most likely post on here from a pub down the road afterwards anyway!! :-)

I went to see one, it had been crashed/repaired so the chances were I wasn't going to buy as that wasn't what I was after. The guy showed me the raft of pics of the repairs, it was all done well to be fair to him. He did tell me that it had never been tracked though. I walked away and told him i'd let him know.
Just a chance google of his name threw up a youtube video of him tracking it, at the NURBURGRING!! What was worse was that he took a corner too quickly and ended up smashing over a kerb and across the runoff, shaking the car no end! Suffice to say, I let him know I was looking elsewhere.

Sneaky! Im familar with walking away from cars, I looked at 5 RX8's before I committed to one- that was hunting to avoid the dreaded hot compression issues known with older RX8 rotary engines

Just treat the possibility that the car has been crashed as real, just as you did with the RX8 engine issues and you won't go far wrong.
People are utter doodahs where disclosing issues with their cars is concerned; whether it's when the last oil change was to whether the timing chains have been changed, they are happy to take your money and let you drive off like a mug, spending the next few years grafting to be able to pay for all the work to be done.

Yeah indeed, always the risk any crash damage was repaired poorly outside of insurance claims and thus wont show if it had ever been a CAT write off at any point in its history which my own independent check shows.

..imo you must have it on a ramp as well. With a flex light to all corners and holes And get front wheels off to have good look at toe links Forget about the frigging colour it's the bits that go round and round are most important But it's your money....😤
Rear Wheels off and look at the toe links

Ah so basically checking the chasis is bent?
Can this also be seen from underneath if on ramp?
