I'm about to buy my first house and need a little help with the deposit. So offers accepted. Sorry if this is the wrong place for this. I will move it if it is. can send photos etc but i'm it work right now.

car sale in the car sale forum , but that requires a payment for premium membership.

I've never really understood, but whats the reasoning on asking everyone to post fixed prices on things they are selling on here?

Because it's transparent.

I don't fully understand, why is an "open to offers" or OIRO type add not acceptable?

Prices will continue to rise and then plateau. It's the badge. Looking forward to the next few months. Can't wait to go out for a drive.

I think the price rises have been dragged upwards by the price rises of Exiges and Elises. When they start to fall I think VX prices will also fall

VX220s will out price the Elises in years to come (many years) because of the short product life and lack of sales. Also a few people seem to think the Vauxhall brand is doomed since the recent buyout. I fail to see how when it is so popular in the UK, would be crazy to ditch a badge that has such a huge market share because of business woes.

Possibly. I think it's a simple question of supply and demand. Deminishing supply and increased demand may hold values up for a long time. However the badge will determine the max amount being paid to secure a piece of classic history.

I hope you are right. But imho I think the lotus badge will always out perform the vxl badge.

Vauxhall has a very, very long and rich motorsport history that many seem to fail to recognise.  However, this old Vauxhall sold for £240k last year so why do we think there will be no interest in the future in the brand given it's motorsport heritage?

Let's not kid ourselves. Our pieces of grp will never be desirable like our posh cousins the loti. Pedigree yes. Desirability of brand.... Griff Ryhs Jones wearing Y Fronts. Pants!

You can never know. And counting the numbers, isn't there much more limited number of VX220/Speedster compared to all Elise versions produced? In some way VX220 is a factory bettered Elise (with same fundamental design) in more limited quantity. Perhaps also Opel/Vauxhall brand collected more racing heritage compared to Lotus (?), so in 30 years after both brands cease, someone can see it in different perspective.

Vauxhall / Opel won't cease. Their market share is too big. It's not the brand that's the problem, it's the business model. They will just be Vauxhall versions of Peugeot like Skoda to VW.

Standard Vx’s will always be worth more too, I think prices would be even higher if so many weren’t driven through Halfords shop windows. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Has anyone got any informed predictions on prices over the next 2 years? I'm currently seeking my 2001 na (but don't want to!) and am sorely tempted to garage it for a few years (perhaps temp cover it for summer my months) if it will be a good investment :-)

I think you can be confident that you won't loose money in the next 2 years (one of the primary 'man maths' thing I use to justify keeping a £12k lump sitting outside barely getting used..), but I wouldn't bet on it as an investment unless its a super low-mileage minter or similar VXR..
