I would say they start from a lot less than £11,500. Nearer £8000.
You can even get cheaper still if you get a proper dog of a car with lots of problems which you spend ages fixing. Good examples naturally command higher prices.
Or one that's been sat on axle stands for 18 months.

As time goes on getting your hands on a good example is not going to be easy. Grab a good example while you can and then cherish it.

This is true, but at this age most are always in need of TLC if you use them regularly no matter the mileage.
All cars need to be maintained. The vx is no exception. But you do come across some real dogs which have been unloved.

Very odd year I'm not sure it's fully understood in the market yet just how rare a genuinely mint car is. Based on feedback from people we have sold to recently there aren't now any A1 level turbos on the market. There look to be a couple of 2.2s that look ok but the cupboards are bare at ours for the first time in a few years. Just 2 on site

I guess people prefer low mileage for obvious reasons. But low miles balanced with condition is probably the best deal.
As we move through the winter months, demand will slow. But hopefully it will pick up as we hit spring.
On a side note. 25k now for a car is not a lot of money. Most car prices have risen over time.

Correct. Lotus thrills kick off at 40k now for new.

not many 2000 - 2006 cars are worth as much = 'cost new' vrs 'current value'
a well looked after vx220 NA has retained at least 50% of it's 'cost new' value, for a vauxhall thats a miracle
A typical same year, same condition, Astra G 2.2 is worth around £1k

What's the going rate for a good condition average mileage standard na, vxt,vxr now a days?
Do you think of parting with your vxr?

Getting to be an impossible question these days. Loads of cars around that haven't sold but they tend to be ones leaning on low miles rather than good condition. On the one hand sone prices appear to have softened but on the other hand we have sold 3 VXRs for 25k and up. I've got a superb 2.2 that's been sat a while at 11.5k

Still a heck of a lot of money for what they are. If there was a market to sell as many as vw sell derivatives of the golf, a new elise would be £12,000 I'm guessing. Niche tastes can be expensive.

Cheapest Golf GTI with nowhere near the performance of the Elise is £27k. Base MX5 is £19k and is way off performance wise. New Fiesta ST starts at £19.5k.
£12k. Really? I've heard of people going to Rewind concerts to get back in touch with the 80's, maybe that's were your stuck with car prices lol....
