What price a very clean and bright 2001 N/A with a genuine 27k miles?
I changed the insurance to Henderson Taylor this week and have the option of an agreed value. I have suggested £9k since everything for sale in the normal websites with less than 40k miles has an asking price of £10k+. I bought the car through a trader a week before Christmas but have since made contact with the previous owner. A very nice lady who pampered the car from 2003 onwards. I have every mot and invoices for services etc. I have been tinkering for a couple of months and found little to do to be honest. I have replaced the ducting from the heater to the bulkhead and discs/pads all round. This week saw the removal of the original alloys/ Bridgestones and replacement with 16/17'' TD's with Toyos.
The drivers seat bolster needs sorting out but apart from that the bodywork/ soft top are excellent ( in my opinion ).
The brokers have asked for a recognised independent or expert club valuation . Is this something the club can help with? Failing that could someone suggest an alternative. My guess is there are few experts in rural north Shropshire though. The local Vauxhall dealers are unlikely to be of help ?? Is my £9k too optimistic do you think ? I have tried to attach some photos but am not sure you will see them. Your views greatly appreciated. VxNewAlloys.jpg 105.43KB 41 downloads

They have an odd one in but they days of them being a specialist are long gone. The VX is to rare just to specialise in that one car. The market is quiet at the moment but only just dropped off after a very busy time right from may last year onwards. Will probably be quiet until April/may now I'd think.Do Adrian Blythe no longer sell vx's? As already stated, supply and demand, and eventually higher mileages will have to be accepted for good ones, also a car that has been used will probably be in better condition than one that has been SORN'd for X years, they are probably the ropier older cat C' & D's.
Cue outrage, but newer better condition cars will always outsell at the higher end of the market. Glad to see the cars being enthused about, but now I'm in a 987 S and my back is already recovering.
What about if there are any v low millage cars - hidden away for years (sorned) that have been carefully looked after and meticulously maintained - With any deterioration either restored or replaced with OEM Parts

Just wondered

I'd say this is one of your problems:
- Discs and rear pads need replacing, I have a brand new set of discs and pads which I will give to the new owner.
- The heater currently only blows hot, the heaters are notoriously bad on these cars. An easy fix it just requires a cable to be connected under the bonnet. It hasn't bothered me. The blower control itself works fine.
- There is a small triangular piece of trim missing on the interior on the inside of the driver’s side mirror. You could pick one up online quite cheap, I have just never got round to replacing it as it’s never bothered me!
You say they are all easy fixes, in which case why don't you do them? This says to me: How many other easy fixes haven't been done and what else didn't bother him.

I see what you are saying, however these literally are the only issues. I suppose I like to write an honest advert and don't want to waste anybodies time. I see where you are coming from upon re-reading it.
Sorry,
James' reply was in reference to a thinly veiled advert link.
But essentially the post was asking why it hadn't sold for strong money.... The answer is above.
I take it you deleted my post as it contained a link? Its already advertised on the main sites, if I wanted to shamelessly plug it I would have started a new thread, not stick it on a long thread buried in a forum

For what its worth .... i paid £10k for a red NA in January .... bog standard and immaculate history 13000 miles and when I was paying for it the sellers phone was ringing off the wall.... so interest for good ones is high ........
Courtenay have relieved me of some money (wheels tyres induction/remap geo etc) since but I still recon I would be inside break even

Yes mostly original examples fetch better money in most circumstances however the VX220 is not a classic yet and it is a cheaper alternative to the Lotus' (for basically the same car). The kind of people looking at VX220's are going to be petrol heads for the most part and sensible or "accepted" mods in the community will add value rather than reduce. SC conversions for example for the N/A and stage 1 or 2 for the Turbo.
