Prices are increasing, I bought my 53 plate silver NA for £6,500 a year ago, it's about to roll over to 100K miles now and I'm confident I could get more for it now if I wanted to sell it. Maybe £7500 I'm guessing.

Try and talk these cars up not down. These cars are starting to become investments and the value of such investments are a self fulfilling prophecy so word of mouth is important. It's in better condition now so I'm sure someone would pay more for it, especially as the next similar car with slightly more miles (and probably not as good condition) is over £8,000. Not to forget that there are people like me who believe silver is one of the better colours.

Only problem is that one with over 100k miles isnt an investment

It could be, if someone famous had driven it! But they would have to be mega-famous and have been photographed / written about in that car.

Unfortunately I can't see anything with over 40k miles being an investment.

Just my 2p.

That's a good point, but if cars with less than 40K start going for over £10K I'm sure one with high miles would be worth more than £6.5K

The annoying thing is, I think we all know that condition is more important than miles with a car that's over 12 years old. You could have a 10K car that's been rotting in a shed somewhere with things growing on it or a 150K car that's had most things replace and paintwork done.

Which one would you trust more without spending money on it??

I think you'll find I've played just a bit of a part in pushing prices up ;)

The base vales probably are up but the strong sellers are the very clean low mileage examples these are becoming sought after now although not fully appreciated in the market still IMO. Silver is the poorest resale colour and 100k is a lot of miles. Enjoy yours and use it to the full its not an investment....but who cares? If you want to buy one as an investment its not a bad move and I have done this myself but it limits the amount of driving I can do in the car which is a shame but someone's got to preserve a standard car.

Prices go up (heck.. check the German carprices...). But I dont see the real extra value now in the comming years. Sell them for what you paid for is surely possible, even a small profit can be made I guess.

A good condition bone stock VX will maybe do 30K in 2050 or so. Gonna net you 20K in 30 years...

I would drive the thing and save 50 quid a month. Gets you the 20K in 30 years AND you 100% enjoyed the VX for what its made for.

Mines on 17,500 but been sitting in the garage  for a year but will be out when the real sun arrives, thats the benefit of living in Scotland compared to you soft southerners who get much more sun hours, i hope to enjoy mine and would be happy to take it out once or twice a year, then just drool over it in the garage the rest of the time while the triple or the gsxr gets regular summer time outings.

dont really care what prices are as no intention of selling, obviously good to see them holding good prices tho  thumbsup
