The first one in your link is the one that Evans Halshaw had for sale at £9500. After getting mucked about with them they decided that they couldn't sell it as it had some issues with the heater(noisey) so they put it through the auction last week...

And now its £12,995 - prices really are on the up  :D

I'd love to know how much it went for at auction! I was considering going as it was fairly local to me but I couldn't get the time off work.

After all the mucking about and it going to auction, it went through as online only, which meant that you could only bid if you were in the trade.

Prices do seem strong but if your after a weekend car what else is out that for similar money these days? Lotus have always been more expensive, Tvr's such as the T350 have gone through the roof etc etc. I think the vx is starting to get the appreciation it deserves.

The VX is a niche car but values do seem on the up. Tatty ones will always be low but with higher mileage ones that have been cared for I think the values only have one way to go. If I were looking to buy now and had googled the car like a sensible person would, this forum shows the things that you 'need' to have had done given their age. They are approaching, if not well into the enthusiast realm of mileage being less of a factor over mainenance and care.

Hmm, How much for my silver NA with 100k on the clock and a broken gear cable? It's been well looked after, new cam chain last September. In good condition for the age with a few small paint blemishes and some stone chips.

Also I think you have less worries buying these cars now than people did 10 years ago. Back then people were using main dealers, paying big bills for ecu and cam chain replacements etc. There is such good knowledge on here and a few good specialists that know what they are doing that running costs have dropped.

My N/A has been on Autotrader for 6 weeks now with almost no interest at all.

Problem I guess is the mileage, 120K.

I'm asking £6500, which may be too much I guess. I have had offers around the £5k mark.

Surely a VX is worth more than £5k in spare parts.

I've had the car 6 years and still love it, but have three cars, all silly, and need something sensible.

Fair point.

However a VX with 120K is not a liability like say a Porsche. If you are a good DIY mechanic mileage is no issue.

I'd have still thought it was worth £6k even with that mileage, if it's been serviced every year shouldn't be an issue.

6500 is not too much from what I have seen for sale this week

Well its worth what someone will pay for it, which obviously isn't £6500.

So I have just talked myself into reducing the asking price.

The issue I guess isn't so much that 120k is a high mileage but that all the other cars for sale have no more than half that.

I don't really want to post this on the forum but to be honest, I looked at the car and it's not in the best condition. Mileage didn't put me off. I offered £5000. Paint work needs attention and general condition is tatty with a broken grille and lots of sound deadening stuff in the car that looks pretty awful.
