No point at all covering the ducting in silver tape. By that point the heat is already where you want it (cabin) and the amount of heat loss through radiation is minimal. There are better ways to spend your time/money.

Cost fcuk all as tape is in bag fulls in the work van, time took 5 mins. Was having it apart to clean so might as well. Job done.

Want it for music mainly and it was laying around spare. Issues getting it to work now though as lost lead in box and only have mazda adaptor from the old car.

Got it wired in and powered but dont hear it over speakers.

Is that a spout from a tube of super glue by the locking wheel nut grommet? I'll be interested to see what you come up with for the bonnet struts, it's something I have thought of doing in the past but never got round to.

Nope its a proper piece of plumbing that came with the washer wiper kit.

I've got a plan. Its on my long list of projects!!

This may well be down to it being set up to output over front speakers only which won't work in the VX, are there settings you can adjust to change this? If not it should be easilly sorted by either adding additional speakers near the sill pockets / in dash or swapping over a couple of wires in the ISO cable.

Gave up with the parrot system in the end.... just wasn't loud enough with the existing cheap stereo unit maybe lack of ampfliying and what not.

Ended up joining the dash speaker club, I had to cut the foam to fit these 4" ones in but I am happy. I also made the heater box channel smaller so as to not waste heat where the speakers now are

Posted Image

Here it is installed with new stereo that has the handfree built in

Posted Image

Thanks to Barton, I have been able to complete the look of my dash, the switch surround was a scuffed tatty silver whilst the dash had a carbon panel- the sets complete now

Posted Image

Finally after waiting for them to arrive- obligatory stick on pockets for the lady ;-) and same on my side as well!

Posted Image

Dash is back in, and hope to have a little drive/hoover and clean tomorrow before mods round two commences.

Round 2.

4x USB power sockets

Boot light and switch to control coming on with opened lid

Cargo net

Battery support OEM bracket fit

Corrosion treat under seat floor area

Cargo net achieved. Yes it's big, yes it's not OEM but its big enough for mine & passengers needs so that is all that matters.

LED boot light was accomplished, this photo was before I routed and tidied cables and reinstalled carpet. I am going to change the switch as this one is a bit intermittent when opened. I took a 12v feed from cigarette socket, drilled new hole with rubber wire hole grommet near the boot release cable...was a slight panic when I thought I had drilled the fuel tank but was fine when the stiff wire guide was visible!

Posted Image

Having to use a bigger prop to get the height, I am now keen to look into a gas strut lift...

Posted Image

I also got my ACF-50 corrosion spray down under the seats whilst they were out. I have some rear sound proofing from Deroure for under seat and rear slope.

Downside was the already cracked sill cover took some more damage...will repair this before considering replacement.

To do-

4x USB power sockets

Battery support OEM bracket fit

Alloy stalks

Repair sill cover

That boot light is a good idea. Have you got it activated by the boot lock alarm sensor?

Its switched by its own switch in the same locale as the boot lock alarm switch :-)

What I will add now is electronic boot release so that the current release isnt abused when the car is left with the roof off! Hidden button to open boot.

Unlikely that any opportunist thief would have any idea where the boot release lever is on a VX Karl. It's already very well hidden. By the way......you're clearly far too skilled for the NPC.

GooDo work Karl. I'd not bother with the battery support, they said it couldn't be done! ;)

That is true but any lil sh!t can pop out their smart phone and google these days! Plus I want the option to connect the mechanical release into the potential future wireless keyfob boot release with gas struts.
