What happened at zandVoort would not just fix its self unless it was brake fluid related

Yeah I was just well surprised! Have taken it for a spirited drive and been very hard on the brakes and no problem at all. Guess I better take the dash out and change the master cylinders. Just annoying and makes me think the problem was something to do with something at the wheel end

Master cylinders  in my experience sometimes you leave alone the seals will recover, but  then give them some sh*t and they will  start leaking and letting fluid past so no more brakes

Guess I better take the dash out and change the master cylinders.

Dash out to get to the MC's??

MC's themselves are normally in the same location as the standard one, eg.  under the service hatch in the nose.

The dash top in the S1 is normally an intergral part of the windscreen surround and non-removable. Only the leading edge panels can be removed.

The rest of the work is normally done in the footwell area if you need to disconnect pushrods from the pedal or balance bar (if fitted)

Bye, Arno.

I had a look under it today, I couldn't see where the pushrods went through and bolted to the balance bar

I can obvious undo the master cylinders under the bonnet but can't get to the nut that the pushrod is done up with. So imagined it must be under the dash?

Should be all inside the footwell area where (if you lie on your back on the floor) you can access the top of the pedals. Quite cramped but that should be where it's all located.

Dash is well above and shifted towards the inside of the car from that and should have nothing do do with it unless someone did a major bodge-job in fitting this (non-standard and steel from the looks of it) pedalbox to the car and cut a lot more than needed..

Eg. it doesn't look like a Pilbeam setup: http://www.pilbeamra...ct_2/index.html

Standard full-ali pedal box would be like this:

Normally the S1 Elise/Exige runs a single twin-chamber master cylinder like this:

Your setup with a dual MC and balance bar is very much aftermarket..

Bye, Arno.

Isn't there a pilbeam one on the lotus auction site? The comp brake one is an ok design but uses cheaper parts. I'd just swap the cylinders and check the sway bar for play.

There is but doesn't seem to be as good a deal as if you buy from pilbeam themselves!

Sooooo little update

Brakes are fixed oh and bought myself some of these:

304mm super light bells and rotors

Posted Image

Along with a new spoiler... But that will be going back as it doesn't fit my mounts (yes I did confirm sizes on the phone but there was a communication error!)

Posted Image

So I am thinking about swapping it for the motorsport straight spoiler I used to have on the Vx

Anyways I have had confirmation from pilbeam and I think I will swap the pedal box over to there product either at Xmas or if the master cylinders goes again before then
