quick google says i think they had a problem with the vtec solenoid.

 

ive removed it and cleaned it along with testing to make sure it opens

Yeah that's the vtec solenoid It has no dirt in it at all

If you have a EU K20A2 engine and the VTEC oil pressure switch is working (and enabled in the ECU), and you can (perhaps with some power loss) still rev to >7500rpm then VTEC is working OK.

 

On a K20A2 if the VTEC does not activate the ECU can/will detect this via the VTEC oil pressure switch (set at 1 bar AFAIK) and limit the rpm's to around 5500rpm and it won't go higher. It's meant as an oil starvation protection. JDM K20A's and ECU's don't have the VTEC pressure switch, so will happily (try) to go into VTEC even with (too) low oil pressures.

 

Do you have a K-pro or similar in your ECU? A datalog should quickly show up any oddities in sensor readings..

Yeah it has Kpro was going to try and do a catalog today until I woke up and heard the heavens had opened! Will still try a quick one later it's a eu k20a2 it does Rev past 5.5 but there it feels like a blockage. If I'm in a higher gear then it's even worse

Dropped into a Honda tuners near me to pick up a fuel pump and they showed me their Rotrex kit for a K20Z, looked like a great installation.

So got new brake light as mine had 1 bulb out extremely annoying lol.

Also ordered 3 new oil filters and a new throttle position sensor

It's a shame the z22 doesn't fit TBH i expected problems when I started revving to 9k All part of the fun tho right!! Going to hook my car up to kmanager tomorrow and do a data log so I can hopefully see what's happening
