well.... looks like the 2bular wont fit with mine or a few other engine mounts...

so looks like a bespoke one will have to be made.. the downside to having everything 'aftermarket'

hmmm

On a different note... Went to back on track yesterday and had new cv boots finally fitted! They have been going for a long time so decided better get it sorted and as I knew that jezza loves to get greasy decided to give the job to him   Also fitted a motorsport roof scoop that I'm not 100% sure it was the right move or not but will run it and see if it grows on me :) Big thanks to back on track!

Have you considered buying a TIG welder and making your own? It's quite cathartic and much the same price in the end, but you are left with a TIG welder that will serve you well for many other jobs...

Na I know my abilities and would rather pay a specialist I have a price of £900 for basically a copy of hpe exhaust custom made and fitted manifold 4-2-1 and into my original 2.5" 2bular backbox. So at that price I see no point in attempting especially after how much Vocky's exhaust cost and how much your backboxs are costing

well to update this, the trackday at brands went very well and really enjoyed it after the fwd boys dried the track out

the car performed excellent and the old gay really does still go well, but then it is kinda like triggers broom

problems on the day:

same crap with the throttle body at start of the day sticking a little bit which wd40 sorted, im assuming its a problem with the cold weather (too tight to spend 1k on a toda throttle body, perhaps i should start a just giving page ;) )

other problem is the one that i have had last couple of trackdays but seems to be getting worse.. is a groan coming from (suspected) rear pax caliper which im hoping is a easy fix

only one black flag but that was going down pit straight with mitm and strugs

So thats the plan for next week:

- check out the calipers, but annoyingly i cant get enough heat into the brakes to cause the groan on the road so cant confirm until next trackday.

- Oil and filter change

- also need to fit a shift light   i dont think my neighbours would be pleased if i started revving to 9k to set it up though so better go to industrial estate at weekend :)

Down blame you for not wanting to spend £1000 on a single throttle body. Is there a cheaper option?

Surely the cheaper option is to find a better grease. WD40 doesn't last long, especially when in the relatively high vacuum of a throttle body.

Yeah it lasted a long time when I sprayed the spring with white grease but didn't have any on me :)

Well decided to look at making some rear brake cooling ducts

So bought some naca ducts then cut and bolted carbon fibre to the top and fiberglassed some 32mm tube to it

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Then tried to find best place to fit them and decided on mounting on the undertray like this:

Posted Image

Mounted duct using 3 bolts 2 on one side and 1 through the whole thing with a aluminium insert in the duct

Posted Image

Here's one form underneath:

Now I've decided I'm going to change the front cooling pipes for larger ones so will get some bits ordered :)

Well cracked on with the car today, started off by fitting my new brake cooling ducts into the mesh either side of the grill. Put some tights on them to stop crap going through! Will update for this tokorrow as I forgot to take one :beat:

But here are the ducts, then fitted 51mm hose

Posted Image

Then me and mark decided to debadge it :o

Posted Image

Also forced to fit new indicator stalks

Posted Image

Then went to fit the shift light but accidentally applied too much pressure to the glass lense on the speedo (yes it's glass on a s1!) so cracked it so removed it and stuck back

Posted Image

As good as new

Was going to buy some Perspex and make a new one using that as a rough template but luckily I'm in the clique and there is one 20mins away at casa del vockys!

So then decided to remove the carbon binacle cover as it has faded over time and gone a bit greeny so delegated that job to mark and he did good!

Posted Image

So now I have a carbon fibre space helmet!

Posted Image

And Jesus that binacle cover (not space helmet) is heavy! Madness.
