cracked on again with test fitting the backbox now the manifold fits

As you can see the U bend isnt long enough but it does line up with my backbox (as i was being a tight ars and not buying the correct backbox for the system!! as mine is perfectly fine for track) So going to fit a small flexi in there along with a v band to finish it all off :)

now to strip it all down again and actually finish removing the gearbox which means subframe off grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :9mm: but whilst the subframe is off im going to fit a new modified wiring loom which i had spare

Curious as to why? Honda engine + GB (without the intake and exhaust manifolds) can be lifted as a complete unit out of the car without messing with the subframe.

Use a balance bar on an engine hoist and then lift it up so the engine is angled upward on the pulley end, gearbox down and then slightly pivot it to turn the diff housing from under the subframe edge and done. Put some foam padding on the lower wishbone cross-bar to stop the gearbox casing banging onto that one.

Unless you don't want to lift but want to roll the engine+GB out of the car on a dolly or similar.. Then you indeed do need to take the subframe off.

Bye, Arno.

Crikey so much fiddling about just to get a couple of extra HP, is actually worth it?

Probably not but you must like tinkering with your car to try and get everything out of it?

Not any more really, I think I've fully itched the car bug now. When I embark on anything I usually weigh up the gains vs the costs (time + money), I guess that's why I went the whole hog with my project, as going to all the effort and only adding a handful of HP wasn't going to be worthwhile for me.

Nowadays I just like driving it and hoping it stays reliable.

I think I'm finally getting too old for fiddling with cars, boats, stereos etc etc.

Once you've got your S/Cer on you'll be in the same boat no doubt. :)

On my setup I gain about 30 HP per Lb of boost, I expect you'll be quite close to that, somewhere around 20 to 25 HP maybe? Once you've got that on tap, you'll be laughing (or crying once you realise the wheels/tyres + brakes + other things on the car are inadequate!).

I still haven't even got round to collecting and fitting those new front wheels + tyres for Nipper yet. :(

getting more power from a turbo engine is so simple, it's just a lazy way of doing things

getting more power from a NA engine is a challenge, but much more rewarding rallly

I also have turbo (A20NFT), a quick remap, induction and precat delete gave it 340bhp

Quite a boring tuning route :P

unfortunately it wasnt enough

so i have ordered some more, which is wierd but the cheapest place i found to buy it was euro car parts?!

I also dropped my U bend and flexi parts off to Vocky who is going to cut the V band of the U bend and weld it to the flexi joint and weld that to the U bend completing the exhaust system (fingers crossed!) Also welding in a extra lambda bung for wideband when mapping.

Hopefully there will be another update soon with a gearbox out of the car!

Looks good, hope you soaked it in water first or wore a mask if you did it indoors.
