i guess i better do a little update unfortunately we ran into a problem with the map/ecu

The wonderful CPL Racing has locked the map on the ecu so the current map cannot be retrieved which means Rich would have to start from the beginning with no base map... this is going to be very time consuming and isnt needed when rich is already super busy!

So the car is gonna go to TDI north UNLESS... CPL racing let me have my ecu file... which i think is very doubtful.

It annoys me that i have paid for a map that i do not own.. very annoyed with them and wont be using them again.

rediculous, when i get a custom remap i expect to own that map. I dont expect to be held to ransom when i want to change something and be forced to go back to them

Well that sucks. Who were you using to map it at the mo? Youre running a Hondata ECU no?

YEah but on the other hand look at it from a tuner she point of view If you have a map faces so to it you can throw it around and then mappers work is worthless and they go out of business If I could protect my maps I would if I wanted to make a business out of mapping Then You would also run in to the issue with who's fault it is when things go wrong

The chances are the mapper already had a base map for your car And you have paid for the adjustment suit your car So I can understand locking down the map If you had paid for map from scratch you could argue it's your and should have access it but I would of thought the map would of been a lot more expensive than what you paid

You can't put a price on all the time that goes in to a map from scratch and learning to do it in the first place And everyone wants a car mapping cheap and just pay for the time it takes and RR

I can understand why Joe is annoyed, but I can also understand Chill's point. I guess the lesson to learn when anyone takes a car to be mapped is to ask if it will be locked. CS locked my map which annoyed me too, but thankfully we could break it open.

I know you have complex cams Joe, but for a genuine professional who's familiar with the ECU it should be possible to map the car pretty quickly from scratch. To make it safe to drive shouldn't take more than a couple of hours, though the partial throttle stuff etc would take a fair bit more.

Mine was mapped in about 3 to 4 hours and though I have some cold start mixture faults it drives great. So, can you find someone who is really familiar with your ECU and would leave the map unlocked perhaps?

GL.

thats the problem with mapping, the cold running is hard to get right unless you leave the car with them for a few days

yeah i do aswell, to be honest i think i am just chucking my toys out of the pram

my cams are actually really boring.. i had to remove my special cams as the company who sold me cams and pistons where incorrect as there was 1mm clearance  so i had to put honda cams back in, all be it from a new engine model (FD2)

Yeah wide open throttle could have been mapped easily but as you say  part throttle is time consuming and its what i need for track.

anyway, this is only a minor set back... it will go to tdi north and they will map it as im sure they have plenty of base maps to choose from. Then i just need to grab my trailer from richs and go to tdi to collect the car... going to be a long day that is!!
