Indeed. Got to get the thermostat right too otherwise it won’t get up to temperature even if you do take it on the road.

my system doesnt use a thermostat. The pump controls the temperature by start/stopping

Anyways managed to get a bit of time on the car today... Mainly wanted to check this dreaded sill coolant hose that runs down the chassis. So blocked one end, and fitted a compressor to the other end, ran it up to 2 bar and you could hear it escaping in the front :(

so this confirms this is the damaged pipe causing the leak which is a real pain in the ars. there is a rivet that rubs on the coolant pipe on pre '99 cars.

Going to remove it and either repair or replace... either way it really isnt a fun job that i can only imagine a lot of swearing is going to come from it!!

bad times :(

Then decided on running a hose down the chassis instead of the pipe, mainly as this means the same problem wont happen again!

this is the other end (after it fell out of fld's mum)

Are you putting a soup charger on this at any point Joe? 350whp should be enough to deal with all these new V6's

Are you putting that Flymo on the underside of your car? That way when you spend all that time on the grass at the tracks you could cut it too, and maybe get a discount on your track day?

only had a spare 5 mins today so decided to brace the side of the splitter

bit of heat shrink to tidy them up

hopefully the new rad hoses will come this week, then i can cut them and mount the electric pump, as i have a spare it will make life easier having it mounted at the front behind pax arch liner as this means i can change it at the track if it dies. Also moves a bit of weight to the front which is always good!

Whats your reasoning for fitting an electric pump when the mechanical one works well?

i like to breakdown

na to be honest, i want to free up as many hp as possible, help it rev faster, less weight as the k20 pump is rather heavy! plus this allows me to carry on pumping coolant round with the engine off

and its something shiny to fit

Having it run after switch off is handy especially if you stall it on track & it wont re start.

Are you removing the complete water pump housing & replacing with a plate? If not I'd be supprised if there is any weight saving.

Not sure how it frees up any extra power though, cant work that one out........

yup complete pump assembly removed and flat plate fitted to seal it.

no parasytic loss, there is alot of claims of 5-10bhp on the k20 engine.  id be more than happy with just 5

How does that work? I cant see how it can be any better, if anything it has to be worse when the engines on full power...…..

https://auto.howstuf...efit-engine.htm

another main positive is it can stay at constant full power for when coolant temps start to creap up
