Anyone got any thoughts on design? The graphics are slightly smaller than original, and the blue fades to the red rather than just changing at the 12 o'clock position. Makes it look a bit neater and more modern, but we could always make some completely as OEM if everyone thinks that's better..? Pics are just a first prototype - will try out on mine and see what we can improve for version 2..

Looks good. Is it just the stick on front you will be offering or a complete kit with LEDs, new metal back plate etc? I drilled mine out and re-used the original front piece on mine but if you where to sell your nicer design one seperatly and it has the same footprint as before I'd be interested in having one.

Just curious.. What kind of projected lifespan does this material have as far as light output remaining over 80% of 'new' goes?

I know a few electro-luminescent type backings but they tend to have an 'on'/active life of a few hundred to thousand hours and start to slowly drop in light intensity fromt he moment they are used. Eg. Lotus used the material on the heater controls of the later A/C equipped cars and hardly any still light up significantly on these cars to be useful.

Perhaps this is a new material that lasts longer though. Haven't really looked at them in years...

Bye, Arno,

Looks very good and I would be intreseted in these to. How hard would fitting the lotus ones be, can't imagin there would be much in it other then wiring up.

Thanks for the comments Chaps. Sounds like there could be some good interest, I'll keep you posted. I don't know the lifespan but it's not electro luminescent, it's an LED backlit opaque screen that directly replaces the existing metal plate - same size, same depth, same fixing points. The idea is to offer a complete kit including wiring with instructions that even I could understand. Haven't got a proper idea of price yet as the idea was just to do it for my car, but then it started looking good so I thought others might like one too. No idea if the Lotus one would work, I guess so..?
