Went to watch my mate in his MX-5 last Thursday at Curborough Sprint track near Lichfield. It was soaking wet and I'd no intention of taking the VX out.

 

 

 

He took me out for a few laps and I gave in, paid for half a day and fired the VX up. Apologies for the poor quality pics, everything was taken on phones.

 

 

 

 

 

Was on new brakes, wheels and tyres so was struggling a bit for grip. Quite pleased for my first time on track and wasn't too far behind the Exige S'.

In car vid here too. Just managed to hold on to the rear end on the final corner. Think some driver tuition may be a good bet if I decide to keep doing it.

Just bear in mind that there is not a lot of run off around that track. Any errors will result in damage. I've seen a lot of cars very seriously damaged there over the years. Do what your mates done and get a cheap MX5. I've got a really low mileage 1.6 engine and gearbox, fidanza lightweight flywheel and ACT clutch etc in my garage.

I went to this track ages ago with a mate whilst at uni! We were still in our hooligan phase back then, so more drifting than proper driving! I'm in the s type (funny car for a student I know) Brought back some fun memories seeing this track again https://m.youtube.co...h?v=KiPGz-i4b4c

Cheers Amoss. I know someone who went off in a VX at Curborough and did quite a lot of damage so had that in my head. Someone in an MX-5 ended up in a ditch on the day too. Was a lot of fun but certainly wouldn't risk my car for it. Looks like fun Jonny. Not many students with S-type's.

Haha yea, I got it for 800quid from my boss at the time!
