Is this for changing the oil filter?

No its for when changing the oil when the top is stuck fast and it breaks open on the cooler plate instead the spanner fits the filter housing allowing the top to be undone without damaging the aluminium

Got mine cheers. Did you measure how much meat you removed to make it fit? It'll save me scrabbling about in the car.

I took mine down too 6mm just by cutting straight lines with a hacksaw there is a picture of it clamped in the vice on the photo bucket link
