I've done the search but can't find the thread I was looking for. I need some new rears, and have seen different speed ratings for the same tyres. The na uses the v rating as standard, but can I fit W or Y ratings just as easily? Is the carcass different? There was a recent thread covering this topic......

I was told by the chap where i get my tyres done that he could have fitted W rated no poblems. He was actually proposing i put those in stead to begin with so i am sure you can. I went for the v rating though. I did not want to change anything about the handling of the car no matter how small. Plus when spending £110 a pop on tyres it just isn't worth the risk in my opinion. Cheers, Jim

Yeah, I had W rating rear Potenzas fitted when I was intending to go for the supercharger (reasoning: 20kgs more weight and higher loads from performance increase). Seems to handle OK.

Fronts are now due, but will probably stick with V rating.

I actually found the w was cheaper than the v at my local place, so I had w's fitted.

I'm going W rating when I change my tyres. The guy at the tyre depot told me that although the car won't reach the rating speed, I'll have better grip !? W rated tyres same price as V rated.
