ERS who is who classicline is done via.  There all in it together!

Like Chris I like to see it in writing that I'm covered. Most of these insurance conversations seem to revolve around how many tracks etc etc so you may as well know exactly what is covered and get it confirmed your covered for each event.

Going by the number of track days declared to Classicline (I was told how many vx's booked trackdays via them last year) and the amount of people who seem/ed to be with them, I get the feeling many people didn't even know they had to ask permission for each individual event.

It takes two minutes to sling an email to classicline and they reply by email that day and by letter confirming track cover.

The only way you are going to find out how good they are is when you make a claim.I have asked for a hard copy of my policy from HT still not seen it.

Getting a bit whiffy if you ask me

Why? As has been said, it's the same underwriters (ERS) that your precious Classic Line are using (though seemingly at a premium that maybe covers the cost of sending you a nice letter)? If a confirmation letter comes from some broker, are you any more covered with the underwriter than you are by informing CCI (Aviva), or REIS (Aviva) or Henderson Taylor (ERS) and the email that they acknowledge your request with, or even the phone call you have with them? You only ever deal with a broker on these specialist policies and not the underwriter, so who knows if the underwriter ever knows about you attending a trackday until you actually have to lodge a claim. The broker is only your sometimes interface with the underwriter and they wont be footing the bill in the event of a claim.

Fcuk it, I'm not even going to drive the car on the road now until I get a personal letter, signed by all the members, from the Lloyds syndicate that is insuring the underwriter.

Matt, every time I ring ClassicLine about a track day they put me on hold while they check with the underwriters. The reason I'm suspicious is simply because there are 2 different positions, apparently, being taken by the same insurance company. Maybe the additional premium is for covering me on track days!

Fair enough. Having found Classic Line obstructive and awkward when I first tried to get a quote from them a few years back, I've not had the delights of insuring through them (nor will I ever) and have no experience of what they do/don't do. What I do know, having insured for multiple years through first, Heritage, then Richard Egger (latterly REIS), then CCI and obviously now ERS and having done dozens of both insured and uninsured trackdays, I've never once had a letter from any of them to confirm I'm insured on the trackday, no matter how much notice I gave. If I called them, they'd say "that's fine" and possibly even say you've got x number of days left over the phone. If I emailed them, I'd get a "that's fine" via email. But, never once a letter, which would invariably arrive after the day anyway and be next to useless if I wanted some warm and fuzzy feeling before driving out of the pit lane that a letter seems to give some. You pays your money and takes your choice, I guess. :beat:

I rang CCI yesterday to initiate cover for Anglesey & Spa and, as always, they emailed me an amendment to the schedule which listed 1 day cover for each on the dates I gave to them also reminding me of the extra £1000 excess which applies. Everything is in black & white & I don't understand why others shouldn't do the same

It's the agreed value that caught my eye.. Track day cover is handy as apart from euro cover with cci I use all my 5 uk days then do without CCI up for renewal in December

I've just insured mine with Henderson Taylor. Their price was more than I paid with CCI last year (and more than eSure offered me via confused.com), but CCI didn't even send me a renewal letter (which is illegal I believe) and the agreed value with Henderson Taylor isn't something to be sniffed at.

I could have shopped around but my insurance expired at midnight (thanks for not reminding me CCI) and the car is booked in for a service & MOT this morning so I had to sort something sharpish.

I found it a bit odd that Henderson Taylor were not interested in my 10 years NCD, and didn't want me to detail the modifications :o

I believe disinterest in NCD can be attributed to the type of policy. I've a classic car policy running on another car; it retains my NCB but is not used to discount the price. As for mods, all mine are declared with Matt so that bit does sound odd.

@ Rudy - Did you speak to Matt to voice concerns?

I'm hoping Jon follows up with the free valuation he promised else I'll have to try Murray Lotus or ask MMG Liam if he can help.

Another thumbsup from me... Had my Adrian Flux renewal last week and it had risen by £10 since last year, but with each track day costing in excess of £120, I fancied giving Matt @ Henderson Taylor a try... Spoke to him today and the quote was £75 cheaper (which apparently Flux will have matched), but the agreed value and unlimited track days swung it for me... wasn't interested in my 10 year NCB and said I could happily use it on another car if I wanted...

So I just emailed Matt my trackdays for the summer andasked for written paperwork, insurance schedule/certificate etc and proof of trackday insurance excesses and I got this reply. Got to say even I am concerned now and I'm pretty trusting/chilled about this sort of stuff but should I trust the word of a guy at the other end of an email?

Thank you Paul, Trackdays booked in but we have no paperwork confirming track cover

so please accept this that the policy has trackday cover, all you need to remember is that

you have to tell us one day before and your excess is different other than that it's insured as if

you were driving on the road

EDIT :Actually just realised he attached the certificate/schedule and it does state:

G31 -Track day cover
The cover provided by section 2 of your policy document is extended to include accidental damage while your vehicle is being used on a track day.
This benefit is limited to five track days per period of insurance. The most we will pay is the amount shown against this endorsement number in your schedule for any one claim or number of claims occurring at the same event.

So that looks OK except there is no clear mention of excess and it says 5 days cover not unlimited.

My Classic Line renewal was coming in at £509 which was limited to 6 UK tracks days. They have also changed their policy on EU track days as they were going to be an extra £200 each  :o

So I binned them and called Henderson Taylor, who were utterly brilliant to deal with. No bullshit to wade through just a personalised package including unlimited UK & EU track days and agreed value of £8500. Just have to email them at least a day in advance to notify them of track days. It took a 10 minute phone call to sort. Breath of fresh air.

My policy:

£479.24 (£250 excess) including insurance premium tax at 6%, legal expenses and our non refundable policy fee.

Agreed value £8500

Free Trackdays UK & EU

Fully comprehensive UK & EU

Legal cover UK & EU

Edit: I will wait for my policy document to confirm whether it is unlimited track days or in fact 5 only. Either way it includes the EU.

I spoke to them a couple of days ago, it's 6 trackdays total combined of UK and EU for new customers and unlimited for existing customers
