Hi everyone,

Just thought I would put up some pics of my very first vx, some of you might have seen my intro and wanted threads. So I started looking at vx’s a couple of weeks ago when my 205 track car was written off by some daft lass not paying attention. I got a few replies to the wanted ad and after some talking decided to make an offer on one before going to see it. I wouldn’t normally make an offer before seeing the car but the chap (Rickyzero) sent loads of photos through, seamed really genuine and I didn’t really want to travel all the way to Glasgow if I couldn’t get it for a price I was happy with.

So when I got there the car was exactly as described so all was good I became the new owner of a vx. Mod wise it has the compomotive wheels, gas gold pro coilovers, a milltek with sports cat and a fez heater. I also got a fitted car cover and the original wheels.

So the main let down of the car was the protective vinyl on the front and the rear of the sills, it looked like the car had been dunked in a cup of tea. After a hard cut with a polisher it came up really nice, almost got the vinyl to disappear and just a normal polish on the rest of the car brought it up really nice along with some claying and waxing. Also made some comp stickers for the wheels.

The next thing to do was pull the interior out and give it all a really good clean, the previous owner had already taken the centre console and the dash surround out to paint. Not sure why they made all the seat bolts easily accessible except for one which is almost impossible but got it in the end.

So after all that cleaning it was time to drive it. So far in just under a week I have already clocked up 700miles on it. My very first drive out in it (apart from bringing it home) was a local road called the Helmsley road well known around here by bikers and car enthusiasts, so was a bit of a baptism of fire but boy was it good.

Tidy job :) I'm not a fan of the compomotive wheels, but have to admit they really do look good in silver on a silver car thumbsup

Thanks for the comments guys, thought I would do a little update.

First I had a little run out over hartside which was very enlightening, I quickly learnt not to downshift aggressively without rev matching turns out you can’t get away with it as much as you can with front wheel drive (my first rwd car). I also suffered quite a bit with pot holes it seems if i stiffen the damping up it induces a fair amount of understeer, and if i reduce the damping it just bottoms out every time i hit a small bump. Other than that i loved it.

one thing that has been annoying me since i bought the car was the light on the key not working   little bit OCD but after buying a new bulb and battery i was severely disappointed with the brightness lol i was expecting something similar to Dr evil death ray but hay hoo.

My next mod was to make a defuser, my brother had some alloy sheet left over from his he made for his kit car. After looking at quite a few designs we just started bending some sheet and this is what we came up with. Just needs the edges straightening out and then I’ll get it powder coated.

Then beginning of the week i did a little track session at a local track (Teesside autodrome). They run an evening session now and again 5-8pm for only £35 so can’t fall off really. Managed to dial in the front damping a bit. Got the back end out a bit too just to see how it responds, to be honest it wasn’t as twitchy as I expected. So plans for the near future are to get the pre cat off and drilled out, it’s already got a sports cat and milltek so to be honest I’m expecting it to be removed already but ill check anyway.

I love that last picture... Perfect angle and tone. Even makes a silver car look good.

Your car looks great. The compomotive wheels/ ride height work nicely.

How do you book Teesside these days? I did a fair few trackdays there a few years ago in cars and on bikes. It just seems to be test sessions now? As it's not exactly the best track, driving around on your own isn't that appealing, am I missing a trick?

You're a 205 fan... Few pics of me messing about at Teesside in my old 205 (my 3rd actually, long since sold :()

Thanks love the 205 pics doing well to hold a slide mine was so snappy.

Regarding booking Teesside you can PayPal them the money but I just turn up on the night and pay just in case it’s bad weather or anything. The sessions I’ve done are just the standard open pit lane format with 12 cars on track at a time with usually around 20 cars there.

I think a lot of people use it as a bit of a shake down for their cars rather than booking a expensive track day and then breaking something in the first 5 laps, so works well as a bit of a test session but you can still have a bit of a play with other drivers. They have also resurfaced some of the track which does help a bit but it’s still aggressive on tyres and brakes. I think they are great for the price and you get some really interesting stuff turn up as well as a few vx and elise owners. there’s more details on their Facebook page ( https://www.facebook...todrome?fref=ts ), the next one is on the 11th which I’ll be at but probably not out on track unless I get to excited which I probably will.
