Ok, when my exhaust needs replacing that's a goer but: have you both had Larini & Miltek systems?

And no-one has ever said the car sounds rubbish, so I'm thinking hearing it is the issue.

Yes, I have an NA with a Larini and used to have a VXR with Miltek...

The problem is not the sound, it's the fact that it's way behind me.

...cut a hole in the floor......

..put a mike on the exhaust and get some decent speakers wired up....

..failing all that..dont have an exhaust at all if you want some noise....

(sorry officer its just fallen off....)

As a noise compare. The silver car has a remap, thorney manifold, 100 cat and piper back box. The blue car had standard system just a larini back box. This was pre sc. Both with itg maxogen intakes. https://youtu.be/yiljPjm2Sso https://youtu.be/oZs2OpVt6mM

I think I've found the Larini fan club! Ok, I hear you all (although still skeptical about how much impact it will have on the in-car experience) As a cheapskate with intact pockets: I'll go looking for an Alex 1st.

My biggest problem with making it sound nice is that it invariably makes the motorway or any constant speed for that matter just plain annoying. Something where it kicks in after a certain rpm would be preferable.

That or my tubular is just bloody noisy all the time

Sounds silly, but do you drive with the windows up or down? When my windows are down, I hear loads more, and can hear the sucking of the intake from the passenger side.

I don't find the car drones on the motorway, especially with the roof off. The worst was with the hardtop which I sold on. The top seemed to reverberate everything through the cabin more. Drove my car from Frieberg in Germany to Swansea in one day and I was knackered but not because of the noise. Was the bloody OEM seats lol. Try to find an owner near you to go for a test drive, or head to anglesey on the 24th for the national pt1 day.

You clearly don't have a 3" Tullet SC system then. But then I find the OEM seats brilliant for longer journeys (and hated the Probax seats).

Haha no, that journey was pre-sc and pre-decat, but a £1500 exhaust is too rich for me. Motorways will be even better soon though when Joe and Vocky fit the 6 speed. Probax suit me well, prob cos I'm a short arse!

I don't find the larini droney in the slightest on the motorway.  Actually when cruising at constant rpm is it pretty quiet compared to wind noise etc.  But then when you lift off or give it the beans... had it on there 5 years and will NEVER get bored of the pops on the over run

I have got a Larini back box on my Turbo and to be honest I can not really hear it unless im doing over 4k revs (apart from the pop pop pop under engine braking...) Even then I can hardly notice it .

This is probably because its all that I have ever know so its normal to me. I guess that no matter how loud you make the exhaust, you will eventually get used to it.

Going through a tunnel or under a bridge it does sound like a Ducati though!

Buy my 3.5 inch exhaust off me as I am replacing it. Cabin noise is 124 to 127 dB. That should defen you nicely. I can't stand it any more.
