Hi, I am just being cautious here. My original plates are attached with adhesive as well as poprivets. What do people do when they fit the riser plates, do you use adhevice with the new plates to put back the strength that is lost when removing the originals? I have done a search on here regarding this and have found various posts but not a definative guide to changing the plates over. Paul

Just using the pop rivets is enough. They are only there to fixate the plates to fit the bolts/rack but have no real structural function.

Once the bolts are torqued up and everything is sandwiched together it's all solid and not going anywhwere.

The riser plates are just that, fancy 'spreader plates' that provide a single fixed location for the bolts to pass through as the holes in the chassis are elongated so the rack can be moved up and down.

If you wanted to be really cheap you could even drill a new hole in the original plates for a new rivet a little distance from the original hole and (re)use those as raiser plates ;)

Bye, Arno.

Sure you're talking about the seperate raiser plates (just 1 rivet) and not the, bonded on the chassis, rack mounting plates with the elongated holes?
