Stratton Motor Company, in Norfolk, has been offered all the VX220 parts Lotus has been storing at Hethel. These VX220 specific parts, so doesn't include any Vauxhall or common Lotus stuff. Things like lights and trim I guess.

This would be quite a financial commitment for Stratton and Robert Chapman, the Parts manager, asked me if there was anyone in the owners club who looks after parts, or whether the club could be involved in anyway.

As I had no idea, thought I better post this.

One thing is sure, these parts will all be needed by someone at some point. The worst case scenario is that Lotus doesn't find a buyer and scraps them.

could you get a list of parts? Maybe the .org collective could do a crowd funding exercise to buy them, and sell off at a set price as and when required - with a profit share for the investors. maybe work with a VX garage as a joint venture, say MMG, BOT, MBR or similar (or a supplier - Autovaux?). That might solve storage issues and the incentive for a garage is that they might get more business if they have the spares Who knows, they might get sold of cheaply rather than get scrapped

That's great news!  I'm happy to coordinate anything or give up some loft space if needed.  I guess we need a list of parts and prices to get started.

I am sure that's how the MG owners club operates at a profit, supplying spares as a side-line. Granted, to a much larger audience than the VX though.

Stratton's website is an object lesson in obfuscation. It's like they have stuff, but you're not allowed to see it.  :P

We need a list of parts. I feel an urge.

If they can provide an itemised list, at least of larger items, we would be able to at a minimum provide commitments to purchase

Someone with the and enthusiasm is needed to coordinate this on behalf of the club, and no I'm not volunteering.

That someone needs to contact Robert Chapman to get more detail.

He spoke to me as I have bought Lotus shocks from him recently, so had my number.

I think he realises these parts need to be preserved but is not sure about buying them for Stratton, as they are primarily a Lotus dealer.

I suspect Roberts phone has been ringing non-stop this afternoon with people wanting to buy the whole lot at a cheap price

Someones got to make money out of it - too much to ask Lotus to donate it!
