Not necessarily...

The two or three pairs I saw on their original auction were horrible (and in rough condition to boot). It was like they rocked up at Recaro and said we'd like some nice sports seats for our new sports car and Recaro said well, we've got these samples that Audi Exclusive, Alfa, Ford, Vauxhall and even Renault have rejected due to the colour, but you can have them cheap. Excellent, we'll take them.

Whoever it is at Lotus that has the connolising sample book is even more colour blind than I am and was possibly inherited from the Type116 project. :D

Maybe we should set up a VX charity and get Lotus to donate all of the stock to us. Any income from the subsequent selling can the be passed to a more worthwhile charity.

Is the parts list that interesting?  We really need the tooling for the major components, don't we? With tooling for clams, lights and sills, we could produce decent batch quantities for future requirements. Most other parts can be repaired.

Clams really arent that big of an issue with Jonny being able to produce fronts and iirc rears in the not too distant future.Lights would be next on the 'to do' list

I'm guessing the items being sold off where bits that don't break or get damaged in accidents so no demand and a high asking price?
