I'm tempted by the speedster plates and maybe get a speedster rear badge to match - it's a better name than vx220.

Can´t resist... Bought drive shaft, main harness and gear cables.

No gear cables, all sold out. So tomorrow my gear cables will fail.

There's lots of people like me who bought these hoping they'd be for the NA. Hopefully there's someone nearby you that has. Otherwise let me know and I'll sell you mine at cost.

I purchased what I thought were NA shocks from motorsportauctions.  I have received what the part number identifies as VXR shocks.  Lotus are saying they are the same as the NA shocks.

Can the knowledge of .org please confirm if this is correct?

Thanks

Hi JD,

Did you confirm if the shocks were OK for your NA VX after?

Probably going to order a set, but would be nice to know they fit (otherwise I'll be wondering what I've done wrong in 6 months time when I get around to fitting them and they maybe don't! )

Cheers mate

Got an indoor cover, too slow on the gear cables so if anyone bought a set thinking they were for an NA I'll give you your money back.

HWK,

Had a reply that made sense.  Basically the shocks and springs have separate part numbers, but when ordered as a single unit have a completely different number.  This part number is the same as the VXR number in the EPC.

I've decided to keep the shocks as others have had the same reply.  Although not 100% sure, but other research I've done indicates this is probably true.

The na shocks I got say front springs are 47.5N/mm and 65 for the rear. Not sure what my current ones are.

Thanks for the info Chappers. I know next to nothing about suspension, but from searching that looks a lot stiffer than std n/a values: Old info from spring rate thread (2003)- VX220 NA = 234 / 268 lbs/in = 42 / 48 N/mm New ones supplied 47.5N/mm and 65 for the rear 420 lbs/in F 575 lbs/in R Will this make it feel like riding on a tram?

Hope not, but even if I have to buy new springs then still not a bad price. The shocks look about the same as already fitted.

Just tried a different converter that said 47.5 and 65 N/mm equal 271 and 371 llb/inch. Is that right?

They sound similar rates to an Exige, have a look here, about halfway down under S2 Spring Rates:

http://wiki.seloc.or...ension_upgrades

I assume they will be stiffer than the standard VX springs, my Elise R shocks and springs are stiffer than the standard turbo, but not as stiff as Exige, so you are welcome to have a ride in mine to see how stiff it is, although I can't find the rates for them, and my car is tubby as well.

Don't the N/A's have stiffer rates than the Tubby anyway, so the difference might not be too great for you.

When someone has fitted these shocks can they post the results on here?

I like the idea of fitting new OEM, but don't want to turn the car into a boneshaker.

Cheer mate. Spring rates match Exige track spec, so could be a bit stiff for road use. From Seloc: S2 Spring Rates Stock Elise suspension front: A116C0015H Eibach spring 200lb/in Rear: A120D0012H spring 285lb/in LSS springs for Elise 05 (Federal): 220 F/ 314 R (ie +10%) Stock Exige front: A122C008H 257lb/in Rear: A122D006H 371 lb/in Exige track pack for Federal Exige (non returnable so much stiffer) 271 F/ 371 What does everyone reckon - worth trying on the car or replace the springs for softer ones straight away? Fast Road use by the way.

Prefect for road, way to soft for track. Go for it.

I run 350/450 on my car and with the dampers backed off is perfect on the road. Here's what my son thought of the ride quality on the motorway:

Almost certainly a stupid question but could those who know please tell me whether I can just buy a hardtop from here and pop it in place of my soft top, or whether there is more to it than the two being interchangeable? Thanks all
