My friend has stumbled across a vxt looking rather sorry for itself while on holiday in Cornwall. It happens to be owned by the guy that he is renting the accommodation off. My friend is interested to see what the owner has planned for it as it looks like it has been left for months and needs some serious tlc. Having contacted him by email the owner replied stating that the car had water damage in December 2013 and consequently had to be scrapped. He bought the car back and sourced an 18k mileage engine which starts and runs. The car is a stage 4 running 325 bhp and the owner plans to sell on eBay. That is all the details he has to go by at the moment, other than the fact the body work is in need of a full respray and interior is no better. Other than the replacement engine the car looks like it has been left to rot since the incident. My friend is interested in maybe bringing it back to life as a track car but could do with some advice on potential costs and issues that could arise with such a car on the way. If it was a track slag only then cosmetic damage isn't an issue. What kind of figure is this car worth and would a water damaged car be something to completely steer clear of or worth a punt at that right price? I'm sure I will get more info over the coming days but any advice would be appreciated.

There are worse cars that could be flood damaged as the VX is pretty waterproof. You'd be spending 5k on it to respray, new interior, fix inevitable wiring issues, new tyres. Looks like the rear light is buggered maybe others as well. I would assume its a Cat D so if you bought it for 5k you might break even on it. Not always about the money I know but it would need to be extremely cheap to be worthwhile.

Trying to upload a picture of the front but bloody photobucket is useless. Looks like one of the front lights is slightly popped out and the mesh is caved in in the centre.

Salt water or fresh water?

It appears to be parked by a river so presume terrential rain and river overflowed is most likely explanation.

Just to add, it's obviously the same car as in the link post as the reg is the same, but not clear if it trescomans car or not.

Gosh, it would be a brave man to take that one on. Water damage could affect all manner of things that are hidden (like the electrics,  ECU etc).
