I know this one! drove past it sat in about a 12-18inches water, down Ringwood way. It's been sat there for a good 2 years now. I thought about making a cheeky offer on it too, but then tought it could be a bloomer nightmare! few of us around this area so could take a look if anyones serious.

Initial impressions indicate he is after around £6k for it as it is. Seems steep to me but thinks he could get that and more by breaking it. Not sure if he could realistically, with the clams and overall body work in poor condition and the lights all round look in a bad state. That's not taking into account which parts are even salvageable under the fibre glass. Any thoughts?

Well I know I wouldn't be interested in buying any bits from it if it is broken..... Much better idea to buy it cheap and spend the monies required to bring it back surely?

Would have thought so, can't see how he could recoup £6k off that

Or ask 6k to buy it as it is...... You can't leave a car like that to rot for a couple of years and then go "that will will be 6 grand please sir" imo....... Unless there is less damage than first appears of course It needs looking at and assessing really doesn't it?

Agreed does need a closer look. This forums gone right down hill though, in the old days if you put up a reg for info on a car I'd have had the guys bank details, occupation, address and Mrs bra size by now 😄

How fooked is the engine, that is the heart of the car and will possibly require the most work to extract/replace (if it needs replacing)...

Engine been replaced apparently but don't get why he would go to the trouble of doing that but then leaving the car to rot.

Move it. Jack it up. Put it on stands. Remove wheels give it a good check, you will spot straight away if it looks like titanic New battery see if it turns over check dash lights, check reset all relays.

I recon it could be ok if you can do most of the repair work/checks yourself, at £6k I'd say you need to have it 'tidy(ish)' for 2k with a £1k contingency for hidden stuff. Anything over that and it's just not worth the risk imo

Think it would need more than that thrown at it, nearer £5k I would have thought. If it was my money I wouldn't want to risk paying more than £3k for that. Just do any quick hpi txt check for m8x vx, shows no record dvla or police record.

you could strip it out, rewire it and get her going again, aftermarket ECU ect

but 6k seems a bit steep, depends if the ECU and wiring is fcuked or not

I've only got a pic of the reg in the front window, I've asked him to confirm reg and try an get chassis number. I reckon that's a cat b hence why he might be keen to sell it in bits. Think my friend is more leaning towards being able to use it on the road as well as track so would rule it out if it is any worse than cat c.

The bodywork looks as if it is just dirty.  Electrics and get the engine running then it's be ok.

Wont be any worse than the water damage on Scottish VXs by going through 1 winter.
