Bought a cat d vx220 back in April time, cat d due to head gasket failure and sounded poorly :-( body work was also tatty and just needed some tlc So I swapped engine for a 45k mile engine did cambelt, water pump and general service on it, fitted a sports cat for mot purposes, improved venting for the mmg intercooler, panted parts of engine bay. Bodywork was just generally tatty and marks and few cracks all over so gave the car a Respray, fitted new splitter, Interior again was tatty so fitted dab head unit, got rid of badly carbon wrapped parts and painted Matt black, repaired seat bolster, re dyed the leather seats. And after passing mot this week it's on the road on this weekend :-) looking forward to having vx220 again, just hope weather improves to get the roof off :-) Does anyone know the car or its history?

cat d due to head gasket failure

Doubt if that's right unless it blew the rear clam off when the gasket went, but cat-D is nothing to worry about imho anyway :)

I thought the same but car check showed insurance cat d in January or February and lad I got it off had it soon after that so all seems to add up,mi have never known a car written off for head gasket gone, the water pipe to turbo looked like it had gone and lost water so killed engine, Fitted new alloy radiator just for good measure also while clams were off seemed to make sense,

Cant find his number plate, but if it was his it would explain why he never had any power for a MMG stage 4

Looks like its now in great hands with much love it needed
