Attached File  image.jpg   15.47KB   13 downloads How times have changed, daughter took her car for 1st service today & was traumatised by how much they charged her? Daddy has been trying to tell her, real life costs real money & not everybody is as cheap & won't forget who owes him money! She refused to have her tyre replaced at the service, due to the chap explaining a nail is too close to the edge? Now she brought it home & I agree with her, but I'm a tight git too! What's the opinion on the .org?

Pull it out. I had one that was only tiny and it was fine. Otherwise, if in doubt, change it.

That's repairable. My next garage will have space for a tyre machine and balancer. Can't wait as I hate having to get someone to do it. I can't convince my boss we need them for tracked vehicles :(

It will be. Not sure when I'll be moving though, hoping to keep mine and the Mrs house aswell as buying a third to actually live in so need to do some deposit saving! I have a machine and balancer in Poole I can use which isn't too bad when I'm at work but quite a trek from Donny :)

Pull it out, if it goes flat then replace it, if not just carry on, it may not have even touched the carcass.

Oooh, Nev, 90+% was thinking the same way as I! I be printed off anz's chart just for fun factor! Once you print it off, measure with it, then use a real ruler to measure the marks, Which will give you a decent guide?

You'll only need a tape measure to verify that you've printed it at the correct size. Or you can just use a tape measure and measure from the centre of the tyre out, that will tell you definitively if it's located within the repairable area as per the 'British Standard'. Abit harsh Nev, almost everyone said it was repairable. Although to be fair, if you go to a garage and tell them it's repairable because all the forum lads said so, you're gonna luck like a bit of a nob. Much the same as when we have arguments because 'the AA man said you'll be able to fix it'..... Pull out your BS AU 159 gauge and look like the king of the nerds but atleast your argument will have some foundation.

To be fair, early days the tyre manufacturers were the ones saying not to repair them and many fitters/companies have just stuck to that (conveniently you might say). You're right though, the manufacturers changed their tune and it's perfectly possible, and safe, to repair a runflat. Edit - and tyreweld, it's just that nobody wants the smelly crap on their clothes/overalls/hands
