Bah humbug! Too much over-worried/mis/dis information is typed on here from people with little comprehension and understanding about things. The plugs + vulcanising repairs are bullet proof if done by someone who cares as the bond is chemical, with the plugs fuse to the rubber in exactly the same way that the rubber of tyre was attached to the carcass of the tyre in the first place! The plugs are also cone shaped which helps too. I also happened to use 3mm thick vulcanised rubber that is joined right on the crux stress point of my rock climbing boots. My life depends on them every time I am 50 ft+ up a vertical rock face and I am still alive. They've never let me down and take far more load stress on a 1 cm area than a tyre.Abit harsh Nev.
