Abit harsh Nev.

Bah humbug! Too much over-worried/mis/dis information is typed on here from people with little comprehension and understanding about things. The plugs + vulcanising repairs are bullet proof if done by someone who cares as the bond is chemical, with the plugs fuse to the rubber in exactly the same way that the rubber of tyre was attached to the carcass of the tyre in the first place! The plugs are also cone shaped which helps too. I also happened to use 3mm thick vulcanised rubber that is joined right on the crux stress point of my rock climbing boots. My life depends on them every time I am 50 ft+ up a vertical rock face and I am still alive. They've never let me down and take far more load stress on a 1 cm area than a tyre.

You're missing the point Nev, there was only one reply 'saying don't take chances', every other reply said it was repairable. Where were the misinformed, scare mongering posts? I'm not sure if the repair explaination was aimed at me or a general explaination for the forum but you certainly don't need to explain it to me, I agree forums in general are full of rehashed misinformation and that's why despite 15 years of real word experience in the tyre industry I don't bother with tyre threads often but I've plugged thousands of tyres in that time. Plugs can and do peel away if they're not flat so it's not totally accurate to compare a repair to the tyres general construction. Considering the size of contact patch on your average tyre I'm not too sure about your 1cm rock climbing comparison either.

Takes a fortnight, about 5psi? I was going to sort it today, but as usual she's out so no doubt it'll be a "you never do out for me moment"?😏

Take it to Acorn tyres in Cas Kev the guys there won't do it if it's not properly safe.

Cheers Jon but she decided to be on an ice skate camp all day, kids eh?
