Hi everyone

Looking for a advise ,info who using AP RACING Pro5000+ CP5040 calipers   ,please !

I have noticed that they sell the calipers  WITHOUT anti rattle clip , and the only place who list them is race essentials !

Question to people who are using these calipers  , do you have any issues about that or any issues at all ?

Any comment welcome

Thanks very much in advance .

Igor.

Pro5000+ series calipers are in the 'race' and not 'road' lineup of AP calipers, so by default they do not come with anti-rattle clips  (and secondary dus seals). Aka. normal. Maybe clips from the road-suitable range can be fitted but they do not come with them as standard.

Bye, Arno.

I gather that Arno , but I don't like the way my pads wearing, its like if you fit smaller disk ... MY PAD HAVE A LIP INSTED OF DISC IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN !

I might be wrong , but is it not important to keep the pad in the place firmly where it should be !

Just bought the car , going to take the wheels of , trim the pads and see if I can push them in and get right wear !

While doing that , going to take some picks to show the damage !

Thanks again for a reply :)

If your pads are sweeping outside the edge of the disc then the calipers are either not spaced out right or they are not designed to run a size disc that you use.

The last depends on your specific CP5040 caliper type:

  • CP5040-12S4 / 13S4 is listed for 280,00 - 295,00 mm discs and would be OK on the normal discs
  • CP5040-4S4 / 5S4 needs 315,00 - 330,00 mm discs to work
  • CP5040-32S4 / 33S4 needs 330,00 - 360,00 mm discs.

(further sub-types are for trailing or leading caliper mounting, so ahead or behind the wheel center, the above are just examples!)

The casting of the caliper body is different on these so for instance an 4S4 on a standard 288mm disc would always tend to run outsde the edge of the disc with the brake pads. Can't help/solve that with spacing..

Bye, Arno.

Was this Bajas car ? If it's running 304 AP discs you need to space calliper of gt hubs ,I have done this with washers maybe you have to many washers in yours which is causing pad not to be on disc enough and hanging of .

Thanks  for a info Arno , I would look into it see what caliper I've got thumbsup

Yes Lee its Bajas car thumbsup, and when I spoke to him  , his mention something about spacing out in order to get rid of knocking sound .

Now just need to find the time and pull front brakes apart .

Managed to have a look a play with spacing . I had 2+4 mm washers on each bolt , took 4 mm out , pads got in line with disc , disc got jammed , then took 2 mil out and put 4mm in , it was ok , but after a few stops start knocking again ! What if I try fit 4-8 lb ANTI-KNOCK SPRINGS , that suppose to push pad the closer to the disc and less movement , any opinions on that ?

Nothing too special. Just some spacers turned from alu or steel in the lenght that you need.

You can experiment to get the correct lenght with normal washers and determine the amount of apcing that's required, but a stack of many of them is not as stable as a single spacer, so for longer term use you'd want a spacer set made with the size you need.

Bye, Arno.

i have tried many things the anti rattle 3m sticky pads from elise parts work until you track the car and they catch fire and melt lol.

Even taken  the caliper pad sliders of packed them out with a washer to stop movment of the pad this has seemed to help allot but still get a little noise but nothing as bad as it was .

Springs will be my next move, i thought i just had a rouge calliper i am glad i am not the only person with the problem  ;-)
